I have had my Fluke 87 forever originally it had the impossible to see green back light changed that to the white back light and Still use it every week and for home I have a fluke 115 they run $140 to $180 depending on sales. however Home Depot sells Extech meters that are good for general purpose home use and great for working on auto, Cat 3 rated of a decent Quality I would be a little hesitant to use it on 480 Vac and up but for 120 Vac or even 240 Vac at home for $79 they are safe.

Nice choice...Fluke is #1...unless you like junk. "You" being the "Harbor Freight" go to guys to take advantage of that continuous never ending "sale" to get that Chinese s**t. Joking...

I've got a Fluke at work and one at home along with a cheapo from Wallyworld that I paid probably around $20 5 or 6 years ago and you know what when I read a household outlet they both said 119 VAC and read a 9 volt battery they both said 9.3 volts. Yeah the Fluke has more options but like I said earlier if all you want to read is voltage and impedance to see if you're getting 12 volts or 120 volts or if that fuse is still good is not saying you're having low expectations except when you want to show the world you've got better toys than the rest of us.

Yep, it all comes down to use. One man's toy is another man's tool. We all have different needs and uses. Buy for your needs.

This series 1 Fluke 23 DMM just got sent in for calibration. 30 years old. Belongs to GE Energy. Passed calibration. Still in spec.:smokertransformer:
