That's exactly it. People are willing to pay for it, otherwise they would not offer it.
When I bought my truck I took a pen and scratched through a few options that I was not willing to pay for. I told the sales manager he can take it off the truck as far as I care, because it is ridiculous. He smiled and said that he fully agreed, and even gave me the names of a few aftermarket places in the area where I could get these options for less than at the dealership.

I have seen worse. The dealer I bought my 2013 Tacoma from sent me another email offering to get me in a new Tacoma for the same payments as I had. They also sent me one 6 months ago and then low balled me on the trade. They offered me a customer loyalty bonus since the 2013 was my second. I negotiated my best price on a Tundra TRD OR 4x4 and when I mentioned the loyalty bonus they said they were already well below invoice. I said then you are telling me it is not worth the paper it is printed on. I was going to send it back to the GM with a note to that effect. When I got the email 2 days ago I reminded them that they lowballed me on the trade for a Tundra and lost the deal because of it. I don't expect a reply but it was fun to write it.

One sad thing is that they over price these and add options and price goes up again! With that being said, these young kids without good credit go into the dealership and the dealer sells them a vehicle they know is overpriced by offering them a finance rate of 25% interest rate and jack payments up to 72 months and the customer says I can afford that and bang, they are paying almost double the price of the vehicle! These bullshit shitbird salesmen are piss ants!

They did the same with my wife's 2013 Highlander. I got a mailer offering $26,000. I took it in for an "appraisal" when I said I wanted a Tundra, and they came back with $19,000 for the Highlander trade-in. I said WTF? The dealer said they'd give me $26,000 for the Highlander but then I'd have to give MSRP for the Tundra Limited (at which point I had already negotiated that with a different salesman at the same dealership from about $48K MSRP to $42). They wouldn't budge. I made a bit of a scene at the showroom in front of some other "potential" customers. I walked out, and then ultimately ended up getting my truck at a different dealership for a very good deal a month or two later. It's amazing how shady some dealerships are, and that those dealerships can stay in business, when there are other dealers nearby undercutting their prices and aren't scumbags (relatively speaking as most car dealers are scumbags to an extent).

My dealer is probably equally bad, but they do get enough "un-accessorized" vehicles for those that don't want the BS

    Everything. Literally.
I think you can take a lot more pride in your truck when you buy it Bone stock and mod it yourself. I don’t consider a truck “built” unless you, at the very least, hand picked the aftermarket parts you want to put on it. We’re nkt all mechanically inclined, I get that, but I think it’s lame to buy a truck completely modded by a dealership and call it “built”.
And at the same time, you’ll pay a shit ton less that what some dealership is trying to charge you for those same mods.

    Just my .02.

I'll bet some money that it was the base model which they added some aftermarket bells and whistles and out the door it goes. They pull 'em in with the "fully loaded" ones when it's the base models with some small after market mods.

    What ^^^^ said.

I got my 2017 SR5 4x4 CM 5.7, for $37000 and change, saving at least over $5000 in mark ups!

    Then the fun began

    TRD dual exhaust
    TRD sway bar
    Nfab steps
    2018 LED headlights and fogs
    TRD pro grill and budge
    Debadged
Bilstein 6112/5160 2.5 level lift high setting
    Weathertec rear Husky fronts
    AMP Powersteps pending good weather

And being I installed everything DYI, it feels more like a great sense of accomplishment and pride every day I look at it!

Makes my Tundra feel more personal and worth keeping knowing I know how she rides and her aches and pains!

Funny, they are still charging for the "black package" on factory add ons, and then charge you again for wheels and tires. What a joke.

Bed liner from the factory on my truck was 400.00, so I wouldn't pay much more than that from anyplace else.
Lets go high on the wheel and tire package of 2000.00
    Step bars 650.00
    Spacer lift, 750.00 with labor.
Now I'm not sure about the cost of the 3M protection. For reference, I looked at replacing my 10+ year 3M all over my Lexus. I was quoted from a few places 2500.00. I do have that shit all over the damn car though.

We are looking to get a 4Runner SR5 Premium for the wife, here in the Springs almost 41k. I found one with more options in Peublo for about 3k less. So needless to say I know where I'm going.

I wouln't even shop in the Springs. Well, I can't say that completely. There is a guy named Kim at the north Toyota dealership that gave us great deals on my Tundra and Tacoma. All other Toyota purchases have been in Pueblo.

My old neighbor sold chevys for quite a long time. He told me one of the biggest scams is through finance. They will come out and say “congrats you were approved at 5.25 percent” when you were really approved at 4 percent. The finance guy gets to keep the difference of the 1.25 percent and unless you are savvy, know your credit score and know what percentage rates you can get you just think “cool, sounds like a good rate!”
Keep this in mind and tell anyone just starting out this BS.
I’ve learned over the years that NOBODY in sales/finance is my friend and I go in with a no bullshit attitude and I’ve done my homework.

Probably cool but in 2010 my top of the line TRD off-road Tacoma stickered at 32,500 and now they are trying to sell them at almost twice the cost? Crazy!

I would like to see those seats though.
