This reminds me of a story told by a late friend. He was the regional (or district, or something like that) trainer for GM. His job was to train the new service techs, and he was also the goto guy for oddball problems. They told him a Trans Am was coming in with an intermittent electrical issue and they needed it fixed pronto. It arrived on a Friday and he told them he'd work on it over the weekend, but he needed to drive it to be sure. It took a few hours, but he finally tracked down the defective connector in the wiring harness. That's how he had KITT from Knight Rider at his house for the weekend. Hopefully you can find a dedicated tech to track down the problem.

30 years ago when I lived out in Ft. Lupton I seem to remember it all melting within a couple days. But I was a kid then and have probably killed off those memory brain cells by now from partying.

I hope they figure it out, I've been down this road as well, them trying to figure out why my batteries were constantly dying... they never found anything, but my batteries kept dying...

Take it somewhere else... There is some shady ass stealersips out there... Look around your fuse box for any type of residue for damaged wires... vibration and contact somewhere...

im so disappointed the TRD Camry with the V6 isnt AWD.. Now that would be one hell of a ride with 300hp and AWD.

Answering the - why won’t the dealership take responsibility for the wiring/sensor failure question...

the left side of the rear bumper had a very slight bend/dent. No body work. Only light scratches, which washed off with soap and water. The bumper to rear body panel gap was off by 1/8 to 1/4 inch. So, because it was lightly bumped in the back, the dealer is saying that the wiring harness was damaged at impact. Seriously, the bend was barely visible to the naked eye. (I posted pictures on this other thread here.) Therfore, toyota wants my car insurance to pay for the wiring damage. A replacement $600 rear bumper wiring harness was placed on order. Hope that fixes the sensor problem. Won’t know until next week...

    **update**

dealer replaced the drivers side bumper sensor and camera/sensor in the drivers side mirror, calibrated everything and it works perfect again.

field engineer stated he had not seen this before but was able to diagnose and fix pretty quickly. Apparently there is a big difference in the knowledge/skill level between the local dealership mechanics and the field engineers...at least that is what the field engineer told us.

just glad it’s fixed and logged in case it screws up again.

all in all Kendall Toyota in Eugene took good care of us.

worst part of the whole thing was noticing an army green trail edition tundra when we were at the dealer...but I resisted my urge.

Yeah I've definitely seen the same thing; took several visits to the dealer for a very occasional hvac sensor issues; but within a few days of referring it to the FTS, they ran a certain procedure, and were told what parts to order.

Thanks for the update! Great to hear that these sensor errors/problems can be fixed.
My Tundra Limited is still grounded and stuck at the dealership. Going on week 4 now. They haven’t gotten a Toyota factory tech to come out yet. They are replacing one of the wiring harnesses.

There's currently no work at my dealership so I've been investigating into this. Did you have your TRD exhaust installed as an accessory? I wonder if someone either unnecessarily removed the bumper and either didn't plug something in right and it fell off after driving or got misaligned and not calibrated correctly. That's the only thing that makes sense to me. We've had a lot of issues with the new Toyota Safety sense stuff because it's integrated into everything now and constantly needs updates. For a month or so we would get brand new RAV 4s that would act like the battery was dead and would not start. All we needed to do was update the DCM and it was fine. All these computers controlling everything are causing a ton of problems at Toyota. Anyways, glad you got it figured out!

The trd exhaust was done by the dealer and it was direct bolt on replacement. The did not remove the back bumper cover at all.

field engineer just said the two sensors failed for some reason?

A friend ran a 4 wheel drive shop and hosted the local 4 wheel drive club. He'd often pass out a sticker that said "Insanity has replaced logic in the design of this vehicle" to members that showed up with their shiny new fancy 4 wheel drive vehicle that had all of the electronic bells and whistles. He said they laughed at first, and agreed later on.
