I inquired about three 21 PROs local dealer has on their lot and was told Toyota has them on hold until they find a “remedy”. He said they can’t sell them.

Any idea what the issue is? I’m on the fence between the new Gen and one of these.

That can't be! According to Eastern Shore Toyota in Daphne AL I would be perfectly safe towing a trailer with mine.

They would not even do that. They said until there’s a remedy and they are repaired they can’t do anything with them. Maybe I’ll ask to be put on a list.
If I can get a 21 PRO at MSRP I may pull the trigger although something tells me that won’t happen.

Me too. Great. Anyone know what's involved in replacing the rack? Flat rate on warranty work used to pay only 50%. This usually means the flunky wrench twisters got stuck doing the work. Pissed, in a hurry and clueless. Just who I don't want working on my vehicle.

'21 TRD OR Limited CrewMax here, and no recall. Maybe it's an issue with a specific parts supplier? It's not like I have the "TRD" power steering rack, or maybe I do.

Mine's October 2020. Will have to keep an eye on it, I suppose! I will say I've had my truck in twice for loose fog light housings and the driver's seat moving during stop and go.

My 21 Pro was built first week in October. Went on the rail to the Port. Then the dealer called and said they were holding it at the Port waiting for steering column parts.

At that time he said he didn't have any specifics. A week later he called and said it could be thirty to sixty days due to part shortages. Early November he called to say it was shipping to the dealership. When I picked it up he said they had about three hundred trucks that were waiting on power steering racks at the Port.

Now the Toyota website and my phone app both say no active recalls and the NHTSA website show no recalls. So I'm not sure if they held my truck for a better or updated power steering rack or held it till junk came in and will recall it later? I'll be calling my dealer to see what he knows?

I'd like to know if this is a gradual failure such as an improper finish on a piston that wears a seal over time or an abrupt one like a circlip popping out of a groove allowing the PS fluid to leak out in a matter of a few mintues. I'm checking my fluid daily until this gets resolved. Being 1,000 miles from home living in a TT for the winter I can just picture Toyota offering my a 10 year old Prius to drive while my manual steering truck waits months for parts.

Whew my heart dropped a little when I did the vin check but it was just the dumb headlight recall lol. Didn't think I'd be part of this since I have an early 21 build. I feel for those of you that are.
