I wonder how that number was arrived at?
They had 4 cutting machines running for all the vehicle parts and the missing teeth were on one machine?
Today I'd be a happy camper if they bought the damn thing back at what I paid for it plus tax etc.
    I'll buy another 4 Runner

Have you plugged your info in Carvana? They might pay you what you have in it tax and all, or more. Of course you lose the tax break of a trade-in for the next purchase.

I'm just kinda venting here...I had way to high of expectations from the company to go out of it's way for their customers...

Once this problem is solved the Tundra is still the best truck on the market overall...I've had a couple of Chev trucks one was a major lemon the other pretty good...had two Dodges one with more problems than the other...and two Fords the last one was a nightmare of problems...like the headlight switches shorting out and setting the dash on fire type nightmare...(way back in the woods in the UP of MI at midnight in March)

Of course now anyone with a Tundra built in Sept-Oct 2021 is gonna have a perception problem when it comes to selling the vehicle....Glad I still have my 2021 Limited built last Dec...

I hear ya. Had my 21 for a little more than a month and saw this post. Been to the dealer and they said I’m not in the recall.
I agree, for what I need in a truck it’s the best fit. Had a few other brands and less than stellar longevity. Even if this is the best product, it seems Toyota would be more forthcoming with some help. I realize we’re still dealing with a pandemic, but this seems fairly small and doable for a giant like Toyota.

More good news regarding the recall (sarcasm) for the few of you guys that have their steering rack replaced due to the blown seal, a second recall is on the way pertaining to the replacement parts pulled from inventory. A batch of bad racks may have been installed with the same issue. Toyota will notify those involved sometime in late February. The 2nd recall information is online on the NHTSA website. Vehicles affected go back to a few 2007 models and include most years leading up to 2021. Numbers affected are in the low hundreds. If you had a rack replaced drive carefully.

So basically don't take yours in yet because they might just replace it with a faulty part?
You'd think they'd inspect the part they're putting in prior to putting it in just in case?

There were a very limited number of people who had the steering fail and had their steering rack replaced before Toyota finally figured out the problem and initiated the power steering recall. Those are the ones that the second recall is aimed at. Uninspected racks manufactured with the faulty circlip groove may have been pulled from inventory to fix them. Supposedly they have seen the error in their ways and are using good parts now for repairs. (If they can get them - backorder issues) Check out the NHTSA website.
