I think the OP was complaining about a blemish on the back side of his driver’s seat that bothered him. He complained to the dealer and they agreed to re upholster the seat for $500 (which is f**king insane, a whole Katzkin kit can be had for about $500).

A jobber from an upholstery shop the dealer works with likely removed the factory cover and put an OEM leather seatcover on the truck that had been sitting in storage.

These kits are packed as follows: each piece is folded and placed in a plastic bag. All of the parts are packed flat and tightly into a box. When the parts come out of the box, they are wrinkled.

I installed a Katzkin kit in my SR5. I love it. BUT, it definitely had wrinkles when it was new, and they were concerning. Those have settled over time, and its true that fewer minor mistakes equal fewer wrinkles. I used a steamer on a few wrinkles I had and they really helped. Let me see if I can find some pics.
Ok, here is right after I finished, and you can see some bothersome wrinkles:

The smaller wrinkles basically flattened out and disappeared over time. The ones on the rear seat took some coaxing with a steamer.

Leather upholstery is not easy, and it’s not like painting a barn. These guys are skilled and artful in their work, and normally that is the work you see by professionals (not a weekend warrior like me). The OPs cover will probably settle out, but the GD dealer should never have handed it back to him looking like that, especially after he over-paid for what they did. You have every right to be pissed.

So I got it back from the dealer again and looks way better. Slight wrinkles but very very minor. I might take it to an upholstery shop if it still bothers me.
