I just took my 2017 in for 20k service (at 15k miles, because I did oil changes ahead of schedule). The battery tested poorly so they gave me another. Then made me wait while they did some download of my driving habits to generate a report the dealership sends to Toyota to get reimbursed. The service rep explained they want to know if early battery failures may be attributed to customers' habits, even though it'll be covered no matter what. I drive mine regularly, with at least two 25-freeway miles trips each week, and no long breaks without use, so probably just a bad battery. I was glad they caught it before I experience any failure starting.

Same service for me today but they said it tested good even thought I told them I had to jump it 10 times last month.

I'm sorry but the batteries they put in Tundras are crap, pure and simple. The stock battery in my Miata lasted 8 yrs. Just spend the money on a real battery and be done with it.

My 18 Tundra TRD, 32k miles just died. Battery just clicking, and will not hold a charge. Guess it may be the Texas heat, but has worked flawless until today.

You guys will also want a voltage booster if your running a AGM battery.

Dead cell. Quite common with crappy OEM Toyota batteries. At least my Tacomas gave me warning with some slow cranks. Tundra went with no warning. Any decent aftermarket battery will be better then the Toyota ones.

My factory battery died 2 weeks ago after only 2 years (19k miles) on my 2018. Thankfully, my local Toyota dealership paid for the towing (as they would not warranty it if it was not in the truck at the time of my dealership appointment). After verifying that my charging system was good and that the battery was indeed deceased, they replaced it with a new 84 month Toyota TrueStart battery. Hopefully, I will get more than two years of service out of it, but who knows.

I popped the hood on my new '19 Pro when I got home to find the True Start Toyota brand replacement. The truck sat on dealer lot for a year and the battery went out.

This might even be an upgrade...I've noticed factory batteries in Tundra are really poor. Same in Sequoia. Never had an issue with stock Panasonics in 4runners although plenty of people rip them out and go with Northstar or Odessey.

On my 4Runner, the original battery died completely one month the warranty had expired. Coincidence... I have two digital battery analyzers, and a digital charger - all three declared the damn thing dead. Charging system tested fine.
I have two more Toyotas so I didn't have to get tow truck involved, got an Interstate battery from Costco. Damn thing died in less than a month. WTF?!? For the last 30 years, I've had extremely good luck with Walmart - yes, Walmart - batteries - every single one lasted 7-8 years on many vehicles (granted, no fords or suchlike). Last time I dealt with interstate 30+ years ago, and at that time it was considered a reputable brand...
Long story short, I returned their junk to Costco and got a new battery from Walmart. A week later, had to go for a 2000 mi round trip = 4,000 miles total, and everything is fine.
Conclusion: SHAME ON YOU TOYOTA AND SHAME ON YOU INTERSTATE!

Mine lasted a whopping 5 months.
I called the dealer to make sure they had one before bringing the dead one in for a swap. They said I needed to bring the truck in and I said I can't even jump it. No way I was having a flatbed drag my new truck out from under the carport and taken to the dealer for another crappy battery. I went to batteries plus and bought a Duracell 27FM vs the 27F. 840cca vs 710cca in the standard 27F. I think there was a 5 dollar price difference.

I didn't read all of these posts. Toyota used to make a good battery. I read they moved their plant south and the that's when the problems started. Mine lasted 18mos. and like everyone else left me stranded in the Home Depot parking lot. Instead of having it replaced under warranty I bought a new battery. I wish I'd of seen this first. This guy makes really good comparison videos.
