I know this is an old thread but I have a question. Once you make the cut and it works, do you replace the bolt at the bottom or leave it off?

@raspy87 Thanks! That's what I needed. Looks like I can get two Lifeline GPL-31T 12V 105Ah AGM batteries (12.9L 6.75W 9.27H) and electronics in there. Appreciate the feedback.

Old thread or not, I just did the bend today. Took two tries to get them down where they should be. Hopefully this will make accessing my amps easier for tweaking after install. Thanks all!

Finally got around to doing mine today. I used the “get bent” method. Unbolted the seats to get the seat backs down, bolted the seats back in again and then just trial and error until the hooks were down far enough.
I keep water in a couple of milk cartons back there, so before I had to take my WeatherTech under seat tray out to put them in or take them out. Now I can go easily from the top. Little bag of recovery gear, tow strap and some other accessories now fit back there in their bag. Thinking of putting some molle panels or just using the child's seat buckles and belts to suspend some things like a shovel and maybe a long distance hole punch...
    20230219_160343.jpg

Also definitely going to use some previously mentioned "CAD," cardboard aided design, to make some plastic pieces I can put over the seat backs so I don't tear stuff up on there when they're flat

ah ha!! This will work for now. In case there's some paper that needs some holes punched that's out of arm's reach. That sh#t can happen.

Is that a CM? It looks like the back window is rolled down a little. I did not know this worked on CM’s

No he has a DC. The SX doesn't have the center slider rear window.

Thought so, I could see the rear door but the rear window was what confused me. I had a glimmer of hope that I could do this to my CM. Bummer

Correct, it’s a DC. The way the stickers are makes it look like the window is down but they’re just low on the glass

I was looking at it last night because I thought if I could get a set of seat sliders for the rear I could at least use the untouched area behind the seats. I have the under seat ESP metal storage so I could not slide at all unless I lifted the rear seats and I am not interested in that. I may be able to design some brackets that would provide what I need to slide but I am sure those seats are coming out

Not enough room 'behind' the rear seat.
When you fold the seat up, it gets closer to the back wall.

I bungied some extra jackets to the seat back on the pass side, with plenty of room on the driver's side for necessities..

My twin 10" JL subs are under the seat..

Thanks for this write up, I did mine today, took about an hour with power tools including a zippy cut disc.

    Cheers

My wifes old tundra the seats folded down and it was awesome for storage/stowing things. Right now both our turndras the bottom seat raises up and that is it and I hate it.

I went down the same road and there just isn’t much room behind the seat. But I needed the storage. I lost a little storage but now have the sub..

Interesting, much less drastic than back-seat delete, which I've done:20230310_154338.jpg

This is awesome. Does anyone know if this can be done on a 2nd gen Tundra? I have a 2007 and would love to fold the read seats down to get behind them.
