This was a great mod for DC. I did not remove the hooks on the back of the seats, nor did I bend the hook loops on the cab. I was able to use a reciprocating saw and short metal cutting blade, and cut them off 1" in place. The hard part was getting them to rebook and get the seat mounting bolts back in. But it was well worth it. It works great. Now I can easily access amps and wiring. Keep those mods coming for DC guys.

Just did the mod on my 2012.

Removed the hooks from the seats and cut just under an inch off with my angle grinder. Cuts were clean so I just deburred with a file and reinstalled.

Works as advertised and I am very pleased that we retain full function of the seat with the super bonus.

    20210830_114754.jpg

I used a combination of factory fasteners (for the sound deadening layer), and zip-ties to secure a molle webbing panel to the exposed, rear cab area. I have a few more bags on the way, but you get the idea.

I plan for a few hand tools, recovery strap, first aid kit, and jumper cables in the pouches... Maybe a multi-function shovel too. Other side will remain storage for a tarp and our dog's hammock for the rear seat... Maybe a contractor bag despenser with some extras always in the truck.

    Possibilities are literally endless...kinda

I have read through this entire thread and want to confirm that if I have a DC with power rear sliding window that all I would potentially need to do is put 1" spacers on the seat base and all would be good?

I can’t remember how much spacer I put in, but probably about an inch. I still had to pound down the U’s a bit.

Did you have to replace the existing bolts with longer ones or use the same ones?

You need longer ones. It’s nice having the extra room and clearance btw. Storage thing was pretty useless for me. Ripped out the stock jack holder and put a small sub in the 1/3 section.

Its goooood! My set-up is still holding up great and I've even have the pleasure of using it on a couple of occasions.

Realized I never posted a pic of my "completed" setup: a few hand tools, recovery strap/hardware, jumper cables, spray lube, gloves, first-aid (as you may have guessed by the cross patch)
    20220217_135915.jpg

Under seat has: wool blanket, towing hdwr., ice scraper/brush, sturdy multi-shovel, contractor bags, ratchet straps, and a shitty, hi-vis vest.

I still have the small side of the underseat storage box totally empty as of now. Little bit of room yet in the large side as well.

This is a great mod and thanks to the OP for posting it, as well as all tips by others. I have a '21 DC. Has anyone done this on a '21 or know if it will work?

Never use the word "bent" to a technical person. The correct term is "formed". :D

So far it’s housing a portable tire compressor and some jumper cables. Plan on getting some ideas for others for backside of seat storage to organize the newfound space

Question: Is there space to put in four 6v batteries in a row? Thinking of putting in a behind-seat dual (series) battery system to go w/my underhood system.
