A little thread about installing a dashcam in a 3rd gen limited tundra. FYI

    so far:

VANTRUE n4 camera with rear camera
    Front.
mounted as high as possible directly behind the rear view mirror. I can barely see it from the driver seat (I don’t like seeing it/videoing myself but the inside cam can see my passengers).

    rear.
Mounted behind rear headrest on a mount clipped onto the trim. I made this by folding a piece of thermoplastic. This way the window still works.

wire was easy to run from front to back up through the hole by the rear view mirror then past the sunglass holder which pulls down (with an uncomfortable amount of force). Gentle pull on the headliner by the sun roof gives loads of space then pushed an old bicycle brake cable housing up from the dismantled rear to pull it through the last bit.

next I’m going to hook the vantrue power supply to the spare plug up by the sunglasses holder and I’ll let you know it that works. IMG_5249.jpg IMG_5246.jpg

Yes I do use it. Think I've posted pictures before in other thread but it looks just like the pics in the link...theres an older gen tundra pic there...same thing. Just pull the weatherstrip down, slide the mount on and put the strip back in place....done.

I considered it. Canada is the answer. That said, wherever you put your camera it’s mainly a bed cam. But mine has a decent view.

IIRC they will but it costs much more than the part. I’ll probably take you up on that offer at some point though. The thermoplastic is surprisingly easy though. Cheaper than a 3d printer too.
