Are you comparing the 6.2L about a 1997 7.3L Ford diesel with 400K miles?

That is my major complaint with my Tundra. All my friends F250/350s have lockers in their tow rigs for Pete's sake.

Ah, I can't own a Raptor anyway. The tow rating is just not enough. 6-8000 lbs depending on configuration just doesn't cut it. Hell, my flatbed trailer almost weighs 3K.

Today, in fact I was working my Tundra

Raptor isn't doing that in a crew cab SVT.

However, also keeping in mind that I'd personally rather bend and replace a tie rod than a steering rack...

Part of the reason I have but didn't install the AllPro HD tie rods. I can shit hammer a bent tie rod back in the field. I can't monkey fuck a rack into working condition however.

No comparison. Saying a 6.2L tows like a diesel says one of a couple things to me:

    -Never towed anything heavy
-never towed with a modern diesel
-someone called your out on a silly comment.

I've driven a 2014 Raptor. I'll give you an honest comparison for someone who went down the rabbit hole when I built my Tundra.

There is no comparison. My truck has more HP, more torque, more wheel travel, it's 500 pounds lighter, and even with getting a platinum and adding my mods, it cost less. Not to mention it's a Toyota.

I will say I'm a little jealous that the 2017's are coming with 3.0" IBP front Fox shocks. But it's nothing I couldn't one up by adding a bypass shock to my current setup. Also Ford is ditching the iron block 6.2L v8 in 2017 and replacing it with an ecoboost 3.5L v6 with a fucking 10 speed transmission.

I just talked to my buddy with the Raptor. They just drove from Colorado to California and did 14.7 mpg. Coming back might be a different story though.

    Not bad.

He paid 40K for a 12' Raptor. Expensive toy. At least we have some coarses for him to play on and endless amounts of trails. Not as good as CA, NV, AZ for desert stuff, but still pretty good.

I've driven every modern diesel. 6.6 Duramax, 7.3, 6.0. 6.4 powerstroke, 6.7 Scorpion, 5.9 and 6.7 Cummins. And I've driven them all on the same chassis carrying the same weight. I've also used GM's 6.0 gasser so I can say with certainty, it pulls like a diesel. Now, at max capacity will it be side by side? Fuck no, I never said that. You cannot compare to a diesels toque/RPM. (Unless you're talking ecoboost, but that's another kettle of fish.)
However, the 6.0 compared to the 6.2. Night and day difference.

And seeing as the 6.2 makes roughly the same torque and WAY more HP than the 7.3, yes, they are comparable.

You might want to go back to post #8, you did compare a diesel to the Gas 6.2L.

"The 6.2 pulls like a diesel honestly. It's smooth and it feels like a freight train pulling. I really liked driving it."

Great we can compare a 15 year old diesel with a current V8.

    I will not sir....lol.

I'm not upset and value his opinion, just think it is funny when people start comparing diesels to V-8/V-6 turbo gas motors. In reality, there just is no comparison. There was a time that gas motors had more HP/TQ (V-10) and that got squashed pretty quick.

Will I get a diesel again? Bet your ass I will, been wanting one for almost three years ago since I purchased my Tundra. Only reason I bought a Tundra:

-Can tow what I need at a reasonable speed
    -reliability
    -resale.

This gives me time to save up for the $60K dollar hit a new Ford F-350 is going to set me back (at least). Hell, the wife was heckling me last night in front of my friends about not going out and buying a new F-350. I still don't need one...yet. 2 more years..then I drop the coin. I don't see Toyota doing much with the Tundra, and even if they do, it most likely will not do what I want it to anyway.

Still doesn't have the capacity rating I would need in a diesel Tundra, Raptor or pretty much any 1/2 ton truck. That includes the pig called Titan XD as well. Now there is a joke of an attempt on a diesel truck attempt.

It was last year they stopped right?

Still pretty expensive at 20k for a motor.

How about a new gas motor and a diesel engine option without spending a small fortune to swap one in?? I'm tired of hearing "Toyota is conservative". 9 years is long enough to expect a real upgrade for the Tundra. Give me a break!!! In the mean time I'll check out how things are going in the EU.
