Okay, I have been considering this since you enlightened me with the RAS, now does the RAS work with coachbuilders+2? I have 5160 and coachbuilders+2 very similar to what you have and am very tempted on this, if I do get it, should I get the SD or HD? and 20% or 40% of the load setting?

    Too many, but not enough....
The RAS will work with the +2 shackles just fine. They do not work with the +1, as I originally tried it with those. I went with the HD and I would suggest you do as well since you carry more of a static load in the back than I do. The HD is only 50 bucks more and you could always dial it back some. I set mine to a little bit more than the white disc, which is about 1 MM, so its at about 25% and its perfect for me. You can try the different settings, they are extremely easy to adjust, even when on the truck, but I would suggest to at first make sure to disconnect your shock lowers and allow the axle to droop fully so the RAS can pull on the leaf springs properly. I installed mine with the shackles and shocks together so its hard to guage how long it would take you but it would be pretty quick. Just disconnect your shackles lower bolt to install the eye brackets to your leaf spring. May as well re grease your shackle bolt while its off too.

So with the 1MM+ setting on the RAS spring and the +3 shackles at 1.75", i am at a total lift of 2.5" So you can expect 3/4 inch to a full inch of lift from your RAS, depending on the spacing. I am pretty anal so I actually used inspection pins to measure the spring coil pitch, the curse of being a quality engineer at my dayjob. The leveling of both sides of the bed HAD to be exact for me lol.

Thank you! I am trying to not remove the shocks or anything that I don't absolutely have to for the install. For the shackles lower bolt, can I remove that entire side plate by just remove the lower bolt? I had someone installed my shackle so I am not too familiar with the parts of the shackles, assuming remove the lower bolts then I can slide the eye bracket in through the gap?

Interesting, I too am a quality engineer lol

Haha, wow, so I guess you are all too familiar with the perfection curse!

So do you still have the stock shackles or do you already have the CB on there?

If you still have the stock shackles then yes, you can just remove the side support bar and slide in the eye bracket. If you already have the CB on there, you will have to fully remove the lower bolt and drop the leaf spring as the CB shackles do not have the sides being removable. Likely the reason why they are so much stronger than the stock shackles.

It MIGHT be possible to slide in the eye bracket with the shackles still fully mounted. I doubt it would work just because of the sharp 90 degree angle at the base of the bracket that the bolt to the spring goes to but it may work with some cursing. I would be interested to know if you can get it to work without removing the lower bolt.

For the shocks, you would not have to fully remove them, just take out the bolt at the lower perch by your wheels, this is so you can get the full droop to allow the RAS to fully pull the leaf spring back. You dont HAVE to do it, but it would probably make the system more effective. You might be able to achieve the same effect if you lift up the truck frame from the hitch and take all the load off the rear axle while keeping your shocks fully installed. Since I was doing the entire rear suspension in one go, it was no issue for me to do it.

Do it! its quite reasonably priced, just a little labor intensive, but not hard, and its so worth it.

What I real think about the Goat Truck Armor? Stay tuned
I only used it once hoping it would help protect the truck while offroading, boy I was wrong.

Started hitting the trails more often than I used to, also started my Youtube Channel [4WD is Life] to document my offroad journey with friends, mainly Tundra related but also documenting on other rigs, land cruiser, 4runners, Jeeps, FJs, RAM, Ford, etc.

Pictured below is a stock Powerwagon on 37s, amazing truck!

What kind of a fuel mileage hit did you take when you bumped up in tire size?

I just did AOAA in Coal Township, PA. Have you ever been there? Most trails are ATV and modded Jeep ready. I took my truck on the "easy" trails and it was definitely harder than I thought. Lots of big rocks, muddy puddles, and tight squeezes. It was so much fun, though. I have a lot of battle scars from all the trees lol.

Aoaa is a fun place. I’ve done both sides in my previous jeep. I don’t know if I would be feeling happy adding some pin stripping to my tundras paint because you are right, those trails are tight.

Dude...it was a trip. We did a little of both sides. West was intense! We did the bootlegger trail. If I wasn't lifted about 4-5 inches and on 37s, I don't think I could have cleared a lot of the spots. I really couldn't believe how well my truck did through the trails and going up those steep rocky hills. I put my rear locker on for some just in case.

I have been there with my 4runner but not the tundra, I know the trails are super tight and its got lots of water crossings which I am not a fan of. Also it is about 30min further to me than Rausch Creek and Famous Reading Outdoors (FRO), I think FRO is a very full size friendly park that has a mixed terrains, open and tight. Nice tundra build!

had a trip to Famous reading outdoors in PA, had to tow up friend's powerless GX on a steep hill in 100F+ temp for a good hour, was not fun but glad Tundra was not hurt, for now.
