I would definitely look at making the bottom part where the casters are attached longer to make it more stable. You get any sort of weight hanging on that and try and move it the whole thing will fall over if a caster gets stuck in a crack or hits a little rock. There is a ratio based on height of the gantry vs length of the bottom legs and weight being supported. It gets a little more complex when things swing as well. I've seen these things start to swing before and when that happens the gantry will start hopping. It's scary as hell with good weight on it and you just need to get out of the way and let everything happen.

Yeah, I plan to bolt on longer pieces for stability. I built it that way in order to fit through the side of the house.

You are right about Portals being $$$. But you don't have to regear and how much is a bracket lift if you can't put it in yourself? I bet they would work out pretty close. Plus the youtube channel, Tundra on Portals. LOL

Wasted many weeks with this crossmember. Welded it on, didn’t like it, ground it off. Welded it again, didn’t like the bird turd I was laying, ground it off. Welding uphill, welding overhead. Kept adjusting the welder settings and kinda figured it out. Got it to a point where I was ok with the welds, repainted it, and finally bolted the front diff back on. I’m thinking the CM will be more whole by next weekend.

Got most of the front suspension back on. Gonna swap out the bumper, grill, and fenders tomorrow. Hoping with the fenders off the alternator is easier to get to, if not I’m leaving that mofo in there.

I know the city doesn’t like it. They left me a note saying that I’m not allowed to store big things on the lawn because it doesn’t look good o_O:rolleyes: Didn’t know that there are actual fashion police out there.

I prefer the Limited grill insert over the Pro insert so I swapped them out.

Yeah, they’re welded on the CM so they’re staying. Too lazy to grind them out.

I hate to say it but I'm just happy every time someone validates how bad of a project that alternator is. I've done engine swaps that took less time and cussing.
