So here's a video of the day trip out to Sand Hollow, from Las Vegas, back in June. Was doing both halves of Wayne's World.
Could not get any traction with the loose sand when trying to get over obstacles.

I was thinking along those lines this morning. I'll keep what I have on now as my daily. Then get a beadlock set with Mickey Baja Pro 40s for when I wheel.

So I started a new project - bed slides. I ordered Vadania locking 5ft super heavy weight slides. I cut a 10' 2x4 in half and bolted the slides onto it with the tops flush. The 2x4s are bolted directly to the bed via 3/8 carriage bolts. I added 1" angle iron on the inside track where I plan to use 2x2s to sit on top of it for cross supports.

Thought my bed was flat but I guess through the years of beating it up it's developed some bumps and bruises. I got this far. Tomorrow I'll need to shave the bottoms of the 2x4s to accommodate for the bumps and ensure they are level and true.

Nice! We have those Vadania slides on some of our fire engine compartments, they sure can take a beating!

Did some more yesterday, didn't finish though. Decided to use 2x6s instead of 2x2s for the cross support. Figured I'd over build it instead of fixing it later down the road.

I’ve been carrying my spare parts, tools, full size jack, liquids, and what not in those large 50gallon containers that you can get at Home Depot. I strap it to the bed to minimize movement but usually after one wheeling trip it gets thrashed and needs to be replaced. That ends here.

Made a multi-level dual CV axle holder/full size jack carrier/long tool holder.

Bolted it to the bed slide
    C24380E5-5448-424A-8F35-03B57C48EE2F.jpg

Made supports for the CV axles, which lifts it up so that the boots are not touching anything

The lid has the same supports and will lock the axles in place.

With the lid in place I can put the jack and all my long tools on top. Still need to get a threaded rod that will come up from the bottom to cinch down the jack and lid.

So I added a 2x4 block at the center of the floor jack to prevent forward, back, and side to side movement. I then installed a 12" carriage bolt from underneath the bed slide and up through the lid and block where I secured an 1/8" metal bar that I pounded to make a clamp - waiting on a wingnut from Amazon. Now the floor jack, lid, and CV axles can no longer move up/down. Next up: make cubbies on the passenger side bed to better utilize that wheel well hump space.

    In other news:
    - Received my motor mounts from Solid Offroad - probably won't get that installed until next year.
    - Just got tracking info from Alcan on my new leaf springs. Thinking that'll arrive after the Cougar Buttes trip. Can't wait to get that ass up in the air - higher than it already is :D
    - Passed the HAM radio Technician License exam on Saturday and my name now shows up on the FCC database making me officially licensed :woot:

Congrats on the ham license. Once they assign you a call sign you may be able to switch it for free to something you like better. I switched mine to K2SGU.

    Congrats on getting your license.

It looks like “KR0OZR” is used and expires in 2030. Getting a vanity callsign is pretty straight forward. I used this site to help me find mine:
