Pull off the shift knob then pop off the center console. Start at the back then pull up and away from the dash. The black piece with the lighters comes out as a single piece. You need to pull towards you. Try wedging a trim tool along the bottom edge. It's going to take some effort. When you're done, pop everything back into place, drop in the center console, put the knob back on. Easy peasy.

Just a few photos of Expedition One’s dual swing out bumper. Yes, Piper left her mark.

    6CEBCAA9-8872-4822-8EDD-5EBA246156A4.jpg 9835F18B-6A92-474C-99A0-1CD5AD9D62EB.jpg 91F2DAE7-5328-4E8C-A372-C2613566E493.jpg AC246E51-E12C-4A89-8F24-AA9B47CDBBF9.jpg D6152651-3BB0-4382-8AEA-8606D8A13AD0.jpg

Need to give them a call and go through a few things. Clearance on the driver side swing out is super tight. A paper towel will slide between so it isn’t touching but, that’s a little close for comfort. Passenger side is fine. Pivot points and latches are really quite strong. I need to pick up some lug nuts for the spare and there’s a 4 can Rotopax mount on the way. I also need to wire up the Baja Design Squadrons but I’ve got a little noodling to do first.

I'd let it date my sister.

@smslavin That bumper looks even better than I imagined it would. I'll be adding this to my ever growing list of things you buy that I want haha. Is the close clearance enough to possibly cause the swing out to hit the tailgate when loaded?

Not sure. It's too close for my comfort. I'd like to see at least 1/4" gap. I spoke to them on the phone today about a few things. I need to pull it back apart and take another look at their frame mounting brackets. I have a couple of ideas to fix it.

That is a one good looking swing out Sean. But I’d definitely be worried about it hitting the tailgate with a little flex offroad. Hope you get it sorted out. Can’t wait to see the tire on there.

Could the fix be something as simple as a felt (or similar material) liner on the possible contact points?

could be but then i'd have to worry about the potential rubbing. it really just needs more room. the guys at expedition one are bending over backwards to help me get it figured out. they're awesome and i have no complaints.

Expedition One is a great team to work with!! I've been talking to them regarding this same bumper for a while as a replacement for my more "standard Expedition One" one. Good to finally see it on a truck and man...that looks smacking awesome!!!

So I had a little bit of time in between conference calls today. Took another look at the rear bumper. Opened the swing outs, loosened a couple of bolts then hung myself on each swing out like the little monkey I am. Bumper moved itself out and down. Tightened up a bolt on either side, closed the swing outs, and... viola! I now have about 1/2" clearance all the way around between each swing out and the tail gate. Tightened everything up and we are all good. Mucho happier now.

    Saturday's projects include:
    - Mounting and wiring rear BD Squadrons
    - Mounting and wiring front BD Squadrons
    - Pull broken BD S8 out of hood and replace with the new one sitting on my office floor
    - Install winch line and Factor55 FlatLink

Then, it's back on the road for 2 weeks...

So, those are bright. Shouldn’t have any problem seeing where I’m going in reverse. Tailgater deterrent? Possibly.

Front BD Squarons wired up and winch line installed.

Starting button up all the little things. Need to find a different plate holder. This one doesn’t quite fit with the Factor55 link.

Gave her a bath too along with wifey’s car. I’ve spent the whole day outside and this is the first I’ve picked up the phone. Wish every day could be that way.

Time to pack for this week’s day job travels...

Hell no. They’re Recons. I bought them that way. The only thing I upgraded was putting in the 55w HID kit from Toytec.

Well, you don't have to be rude.

    A simple, "they're Recons, dickbag. I wouldn't F with them" would suffice.
