    Nice build!

I don't know if you ever found an answer to this, but my buddy just weighed his Tundra, and fully loaded with overland gear he's at 8100 lbs. Still hauls ass on trails and handles great, but he has a lot of time and energy into it with a Total Chaos and Fox full long travel.

Sean, I dig your build - focused and organized - you have a direction and purpose in mind, and it shows in your progress.

I just posted my ham install if you want to see an NMO on the roof of a Tundra. I've already driven into the garage with the antenna on once and had to redo it in a new hole. I'm about to rewire so we can run a mag mount on the hood because I'm tired of stopping to lay the antenna down on tight trails.

Here's the head unit install, and the antenna install is a couple posts later - https://www.tundras.com/threads/kom...h-speed-overland-rig.16989/page-2#post-376092

Thanks. I'll take a peek. No ideas where I'm going to put the antenna yet. I have a hood mount I may use for the HAM. Considering a no ground plane CB antenna and mount that I can put onto the side of the topper.

Other option is to use the hood mount for the CB then drill a hole in roof for a NMO mount. Working with a guy on a roof rack so I need to plan accordingly. I'd rather not put a hole in the roof then find out it's going to get covered up by the rack. :D

yeah, you really want to minimize roof holes. LoL.

    we have 14 now. :|

and one of them is our little R2D2 looking thing where the old NMO got torn out.

Expedition One just let me know the rear bumper is finished. Too bad I'm on the road for the next two weeks. So, they'll ship it as soon as I get home.

Went exploring for a few hours this afternoon. Headed south looking for something different. Didn't want difficult just needed to get out. Breathe some mountain air. Next two weeks are filled with planes and conference rooms in places I'd rather not be.

Headed down to Monument. Up Mt Herman. North on Rampart Range to Dakan Rd. Down Dakan into Sedalia then home. Just a mellow cruise but well worth it. Few sections on Rampart where she got to stretch her legs a bit.

Hey Sean, who did you end up getting to do your BMC? I'm in the same boat of not having the welding skills to do it myself.

Amazing build thus far buddy!! Have you had a chance to test out the AM/FM CB adapter wizardry?

I looked into it not too long ago. It appears that the antenna does not plug into the head unit with an RCA jack which is the only input that the adapter box has. So, CB antenna is going to go onto a bracket on the left front fender. HAM antenna will go into the roof with a NMO mount. I need to go grab a few things to trim coax and then I'll get this taken care of.

There's always a catch.. As for the coax tools, the only one you really need is the crimper to re-tip the end. A decent blade and youtube are all you need to properly size/cut the line - At work I just use sharp electrician's scissors, I gave up on trying to find one of that specific tool that works great.

My job during college had me running miles of coax. To liven it up, one of the guys brought in a small crossbow which we used to send the coax across ceiling spaces so we wouldn't have to pull the tiles. Spent many hours putting new tips on and just like you, I gave up on the magic tool. Scissors work awesome.

Lmao that is awesome! Now, to convince my boss that a crossbow is a tool I need... I, thankfully, only have to deal with short residential runs.
