Grille's on. Finally. Didn't think it was ever going to show up. UPS destroyed the box but they bubble wrapped it really well so no issues.

So, this afternoon it's time to mount the BudBuilt's and wire the lights. Then it's a waiting game for the rear bumper, winch and missing PIAAs.

She needs to get dirty... :mudding:

So, today was the first time the truck had been on the freeway. Super happy with how she handles. Road manners are excellent and the 'pickup bob' that was noticeable with the stock setup is no longer there. However, I think the 4.88s are going to come sooner rather than later. She kept up with traffic on 36 up to Boulder fairly well but every elevation change required a significant push on the pedal. I need to count my pennies...

I just installed @ToyTec Lifts HID conversion kit into my Recon projectors. Night and day difference from the xenon bulbs that were in there. Taking the kids to dinner but then I'm going to pull it apart again and align the bulbs afterwards. Driver side is way out. Super stoked that this was such an easy upgrade.

Yes. If there is any differentials that are "easier" to do, the Toyota 3rds are pretty straight forward. This is still relative, but you should be able to knock it out with some good reading. You will need some special tools though. Like an inch pound beam style torque wrench and dial indicators, but definitely doable at home.

I did not look back over your build in detail, are you 4x4 ? The front diff is the tuff one. I personally have never tackled a gear change, but from what I have watched on video it looks like a pretty time involved project. Like Luis said, lots of specialty tools needed. Even a seasoned diff guy takes a lot of time with shims and his dial indicator etc. You look like a pretty mechanically inclined guy, but I'd leave this one to a shop. Just my thoughts. Best advice either way is to do the 4:88's. :burnrubber::mudding:

Yes, it's 4x4. I'm swinging by a shop on Monday, that was recommended by Toytec, for a caster adjustment. I will ask them about the 4.88s. Kinda leaning towards having someone else do this and install the rear locker at the same time.

After the morning's detail, I spent a little bit of time getting organized.

    IMG_0189.jpg

HiLift is mounted on the driver side bed rail. The drawer on the right currently holds med kit, winch dampener, puncture kit, various straps, HiLift base, gloves and tools. Med kit is almost a full trauma kit. It can handle everything but a trach. If I'm ever in a situation that calls for that, there are bigger problems. I've had some bad things happen over the years (saved lives and lost them) so I'm pretty anal about keeping it stocked.

Drawer on the left is currently empty but the boxes are water proof. They'll be good for paper goods and anything else that needs to stay dry.

After that, the mail came and delivered my Husky logos from @Achuop. Perfect fit and so much better than the Husky logo.

    IMG_0188.jpg

Then it was on to wiring the bumper lights. So. Much. Light.

Ah, she's back. Driveway was looking a little empty.

She spent the night at the shop last night, all alone, in a strange neighborhood. I picked her up earlier today and there were no tear stains on the grille so she must have bucked up and done okay. Anyway, she's aligned with a chop. I can now go around corners and get in and out of the driveway without making a 9 point turn. Next big step, 4.88s and a locker. Next small step, CB and HAM installs.

How tough is it to get licensed for HAM? Figure one of these days, probably when I'm using the truck as it's intended ha, it wouldn't be a bad idea.
