I haven’t been to the people’s republic in a while, maybe back when BD’s Mongolian BBQ was down on Pearl. I’ll have to check it out! Maybe a tundra meet up?

3.0s are on. 2.5s are getting a rebuild and they have a potential buyer. need to get a shipping estimate for them and we'll see what happens.

    :annoyed:

3 weeks to T2S. the project pile in the garage is a little overwhelming and my prioritization skills suck. plus, it's raining with snow coming. not sure what i'll get done tomorrow.

Seriously. So much to do. But it’s worth it. It’s so fun seeing everyone and just hanging out around the campfire. As long as our truck is able to move under it’s own power, we’ll be there - fat and sassy.

well, there's one thing checked off the list...

    Photo Mar 31, 4 19 04 PM.jpg

    Photo Mar 31, 4 21 58 PM.jpg

the slide is built like a tank and it's pretty effortless. bottom of the slide has holes that match to holes on the bottom of the fridge. bolts were included to secure the fridge to the slide. there are also 4 tie down straps.

next up is getting power back there. i need to find a longer power cord though. with the slide out and dropped, the cord that came with the fridge doesn't reach the socket.

Hardwire direct to battery or you will have efficiency issues. Also make sure you have proper size power wire for the length needed for the amount amps running through it... my two cents...

    Slide looks great also

Looks awesome! I used an anderson plug instead of socket more secure on the trail plus you could use low gauge directly from battery.

the current plan is to use a blue sea deck panel that has 2 12v sockets and a volt meter in it. the panel will be wired direct to the secondary battery. the supplied 12v cord from dometic is about 2' too short to stay plugged in when the slide is fully extended and i'm having trouble finding a longer one. need to dig around a bit today.

how did you get an anderson connector on the dometic power cord? diy? or did you buy one somewhere?

i haven't been able to find a longer power cable, or a dometic anderson connector, but i did find a panel mount for anderson connectors. so, i think i'll cut off the cig lighter plug, extend the cord myself and attach the anderson connector. i'll put the panel mount on the panel i'm making then i'll be able to use the blue sea panel for other stuff.

just need a sanity check on my reading of this wire gauge chart...

dometic says input current AC is .9A and DC is 7.5A. my guesstimate for battery to the back of the truck would be somewhere between 20-24'. so, based on that chart, i should be fine with 10g wire. yes?

I ran 8 gauge welding cable to the backn, both pos and neg....

Are you wiring it direct? or to a panel?

Check out Battery Stuff and also Powerwerx. I ordered all my stuff from powerwerx. You can order custom length cables so you don't have to buy the expensive crimpers unless you think you'll be making a lot of cables for other projects.

I think it's better to go a bit thicker for fridge power cables to reduce losses as much as possible. The fridge will be drawing amps when the engine isn't running, which is most of the time.

I used 30 feet of 6 gauge. I probably could have done 25 feet but didn't want to risk it. Mine is mounted on the driver side though.

powerwerx. totally forgot about that site. i had looked at them for mc4 connectors for the solar panels. didn't realize they would make the cables for you. that's perfect.

I prefer Marine wiring as its super corrosive resistant. more expensive but worth it in my opinion...
