I arrived at the room safe, and sound about 1.5 hours ago. Settled in a little bit, and then was disturbed by two police officers at my door.

They politely asked if I could move my truck so they could take an elderly lady home. I agreed as I had to go top off the petrol tank, and get some grub. I thanked them for taking her home, and wished them safe travels.

Each room on the ground floor has an exterior door. I was parked outside my door,, but some ya-hoo parked all crooked next to me so they couldn't get close enough to her door. Her elderly husband was in a minor wreck on the parkway, and could not come get her. So the police officers are protecting, and serving their community.

why - did you have the heat on or something silly? You want inside & outside temp to match so you don't grow ice on the screens.

    So short story about today:

Pulled up to a 4 way intersection. Ice where I'm sitting as you can imagine... I'm in 4HI, sitting there idling, watching the light. This lady is turning right into my side of the 4way on my left. She's going slooooow. But bald tires... she kinda slides directly towards me. The intersection is leaned to my right.

I really wasn't sure what to do to avoid her sliding into me so I just goosed the skinny pedal. I shit you not the entire truck crabwalked about 1.5 feet to the right.

Her front bumper stopped about 8 inches into where my dirvers side door was. Kinda crazy!

Not sure if I updated this with my most recent purchase. I placed a flea-bay order for a used ECM. I'll pop it in when it arrives.

@RainMan_PNW @shifty` my thinking is this: if my current ECM is bad then this should fix it assuming that the new to me one is good also.

If I have the same exact issues with no data from that one sensor then I will know I have a wiring problem which will then begin the hunt for a wiring harness on flea-bay. Thankfully, thanks to @MrDirtjumper I know I can get a wiring harness. Probably...

Am I nuts or is the mileage stored in the ECU? I can't recall. Wonder if the VIN's in there too. I can't keep track on which cars it is or isn't.

I thought the mileage was stored in the instrument cluster? I mean, I've had the ECM completely removed from crackie and then it came back on the cluster. That's how I took that picture for the current mileage thread.

Granted, that I wasn't looking to see if it was 100% correct, but it was close enough not to notice. I'm not sure where the VIN is stored electronically, but that's a good point. Anyways, I don't much care at this point.

If it's the wiring harnes, which I'd almost bet it is just on a gut feeling, I'll simply pop my old ECM in.

On the 2007-2021, mileage is in the speedo cluster. Can’t imagine it is stored in the ECU on the 2000-2006

    No idea on VIN

Have you tried any powerslide turns or just braking hard to see how much you slide? To me it's the best way to gauge how fast you should be going.

If you do it, just don't have any cars or ditches around so no damage will be done in case you go too fast.

Maybe this is obvious to you but I'm not sure how often you guys get snow. People I've encountered who don't know either drive too fast or too slow.

This is my gut feeling as well. I think @RainMan_PNW 's suggestion RE: testing continuity etc. of O2 circuits is probably going to highlight some shit, but I've been wrong before.

I really hope for your sake this isn't something stupid, like a mouse chewed thru a wire or crackhead accidentally snapped something in half doing crackhead things.

I agree that it would highlight prior crack-tivities, but it's fucking cold right now. I'll just wait until it's warmer to do my testing as laid out by @RainMan_PNW. For now, I'll just plop in the ECM once it arrives.

    Time will tell

Driving in the snow is easy, as long as you don't try to change direction or slow down. An empty parking lot is ideal for learning the limits of your vehicle and your skills. If I ruled the world the Skid Pad would be part of driver's license test.

Thanks for this video. I'm three minutes in, but I just don't understand how this is relevant. Great information for someone, but don't think it is correct for this application. As stated by @assassin10000 whom I quoted below, the mileage is stored on the instrument cluster as the video posted by you shows... however I'm not swapping instrument clusters. I'm swapping the ECM which should not disturb the mileage
