That long bolt in the 2nd picture looks like one we had to remove when doing John's alternator. It's either for the alternator or power steering pump I think. We had to unbolt the power steering pump and swing it out of the way to remove the alternator. Some of those smaller bolts could be for the serp belt tensioner...?

Edit- just noticed you already have the small ones figured out. 95% sure that big bolt is what I wrote above.

There’s a long one on the thermostat housing. 4 for the ac compressor one on the water pump and one over by the power steering pump if I remember right. Mines an 06 though.

It's too bad nobody makes a machine like those Coinstar things where you dump all the coins in, it sorts, identifies and counts all the coins, and spits out a redeemable receipt. We need the same thing, but for bolts and nuts, you dump in your pile of bolts, and it in turn spits out a receipt with a picture of the bolt, it's thread pitch, length, type and a list of everywhere on the truck it's used...

Actually, there surely must be a smartphone app that can do that? Probably wouldn't support trucks as old as ours though. And I'm guessing between models, the bolt lengths and such may be same thread into the block, but different lengths depending on what accessory config you had. That's how all the GenIII GM motors are.

He’s got both timing belt covers off and the number 2 timing belt cover. No sign of anything where the left over would fit. Taking the fan bracket off now.

@Tundra2 here. My phone is dead as a doorknob. Anyway, think I figured out where that 12mm bolt lives. There’s a bolt just underneath the bolt for the serpentine belt tensioner. Think that’s where it lives. It threaded in, and snugged up.

Still not sure where the 12mm nut lives…

that bolt is the one that can be replaced with a stud to allow the use of the newer 130 or 150 amp alternator without having to modify it. (for anyone that cares)

Okay, so I've still got one M8x1.25 nut (12mm head) without a home. Everything else has been accounted for.

Water pump is good. PS Vane is good. Alternator is good. AC compressor is good. AC comp reinforcement bracket is good. Serp tensioner is good. Water inlet is good. I'm not sure what else is missing.

Found one loose motor mount bolt which I snugged up...

Not many pics because cold, but the oil cooler coolant lines are packed full of shit. I cleaned this out, but can't get much out of the oil cooler itself.
    IMG_4476.jpg

The throttle body is packed full of shit too. I can't clean all that out. Same type of grassy, planty type shit.

Also, I'd really like to replace the clips on the left hand TB cover. Anyone got any kind of links?

The oil cooler lines look like that??

Replace the oil cooler. Seriously. It’s probably caked. Replace the rubber lines, use pipe cleaners to clear out the metal line. Pull the heater hoses off and make sure they’re not caked too. Almost looks like someone pit stop leak in at some point. GET THAT STUFF OUT

Pull the hoses. This shit will cause a nightmare bleeding the system and may cause issues with all the work you’ve done

Your replacing the Rad right? Back flushing the heater core with a garden hose should help.. maybe some CLR too?

The RWD? Radiator? Yes. I have new denso in hand. Guess I'll order another one, and sacrifice this one for the flush. I don't want to break up any of the gunk in the old one, and get it lost in the cooling system.

Flushing the engine block out may be a good idea too. Go remove t stat, reinstall the housing, remove both heater hoses, put a hose that goes from inlet and outlet (so you don’t further block the heater potentially) and remove both upper and lower rad hoses. Use the top one with a hose and run water through till it comes out clear. Once done, put together and used distilled water to flush out the tap water

In this case power flushing is a good idea to get the large chunks out so you DONT ruin the new Rad

They sell kits to hook a garden hose up and air to force water through the system under pressure

    I used only distilled in the V6. 80 cents a gallon was a no-brainer.

So let me get this straight to make sure I'm understanding correctly...
    1. Remove T-stat
    2. Connect inlet, and outlet hoses from the heater together.
    3. Use top radiator hose with garden hose
    4. Run engine until clear.
    5. Hook everything up proper, and flush tap out with distilled.
    Yes?

Well distilled is great for flushing normally. What you have here needs a garden hose and some air pressure to work the big shit out. After that process is when you’ll put it all together and flush the tap water out with distilled water then eventually coolant
