The 32-year-old CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals is at the heart of a controversy this week over alleged "price gouging" by drug makers. Shkreli's company raised the price on a drug called Daraprim from $13.50 a pill to $750 overnight. Shkreli's company bought the rights to it from another firm in August

Competitor is offering a $1 pill now because of this

Even though there is a $1 pill they are saying that it wont affect Shkreli.

Ok so the media blew this one up and everyone believed. My wife said she read the whole story and it's not as bad as this seams.

So this guy bought the rights to the drug during its testing phase. It was not yet known how effective the drug was. During this time the drug was cheep. After bought it was pushed through and found effective. Then the price was raised to match the price of comparable drugs.

I couldn't agree more. Certainly not defending socialism - I can be critical of one thing without being a believer in something else. I am all for individuals and corporations earning a good profit for their hard work and creativity but gouging folks who need a life-saving drug to the tune of a 5455.56% price increase is disgraceful.
