Brady, Gronk, all of the refs and now Harrison... Belichick and Kraft have put together one hell of a team. I guess if it stays this cold I can always burn my #92 jersey. HERE WE GO STEELERS!

You guys need to give this dumb southern boy some info:
    1) I saw on @Wrongside forecast "Ice Crystals". WTF are ice crystals?
    2) How much does snow weigh? Looking at @chphilo pics, it makes me wonder.

Probably ice crystals are most noticeable on car windows. Sometimes when I use wiper fluid to clear the icy window and ice crystals form almost immediately. My kids love to watch them form. They look something like the picture below.

If the snow is fluffy, it's not very heavy. When it becomes wet and icy, then they become quite heavy, well, heavy enough to make the roof collapse. There were several roofs that collapsed last winter where I live. When the ice/snow becomes too thick on relatively flat roof, we have to climb up on the roof and try to shovel enough of it so that the roof is safe.

    Gents,

For us up here, ice crystals generally mean that we have extreme cold and high humidity. This can lead to very small particals of ice floating thru the air. They don't accumulate per say, at least not like snow. But they stick to everything they touch. Makes for a very white world, trees and everything covered in thick white frost. A very beautiful winter scene. I'll see if I can get some pictures next time it happens.

Cheers from frigid Alberta! (-37C windchill this AM!)

So, I found a couple pictures on my phone. From a hunting trip a few years ago. It was one of the most beautiful mornings I've ever seen- as the sun came up and shone on us, the world looked coated in diamonds. Pictures don't even begin to show. IMG_3267.jpgIMG_3269.jpg

We get that quite often on lake superior, I sail as a engineer and have to deal with frozen air intakes. Screenshot_20171226-202232.jpg Sure gives everything on the ship a nice white coating.
