I had the opportunity to drive a 2005 8.3L V10 Dodge Viper similar to the stock photo below. My sister in law was dating the owner and they drove it to a get together. So I quickly asked if he would take me for a quick spin. Halfway through he pulls over and says "wanna drive it"? I wasn't about to say no but I was nervous knowing I couldn't afford to replace it. He said c'mon so I agreed and jumped into the driver's seat. Then he tells me "I only have one rule if you drive my cars....you can't shift below 5k RPM". Now I hadn't driven anything with 500+ hp before and noticed it redlines around 6.5k if I remember correctly...shouldn't be too bad right?? I knew enough to understand that kind of hp needs to be respected so I was easy on the pedal but followed the rules and shifted just as it hit 5k, second gear seemed to pull harder than first but again followed the rules shifting into third and backed out. I wasn't watching the speed because I was too focused on the road and tach. One thing I knew is I didn't have the balls to pull 5k again in third gear. If we were on an airstrip or a more controlled environment I would've grabbed a few more gears for sure. The acceleration was mind blowing and something I'll never forget along with that V10 sound.
When we parked I thanked him for letting me drive and get on it a little bit. He smiled and said "now you know why I have my 5k rule...that is the only way drive these cars".

Sorry to hear about your friend.
    I had 2 1972 Chevelle's. I loved the convertible SS one.

A few years ago I bought a 1999 Camry from a co-worker for $400. The car was worth a lot more, but he just wanted to get rid of it; he wanted to donate it to Goodwill and would get a $400 tax credit for it, so he said I can get it for that. My son was a few months away from getting his license, so it was a perfect starter car for him.
It is obviously not the coolest car in this thread, but value for money it was the coolest deal ever. The car was meticulously maintained and came with brand new tires.
A year later I traded it in on a new Camry for my son and got $1,400 trade-in for it.

With automatic seat beats! I had a VW Golf that had those...once you learned to get in without clothes lining yourself they worked pretty good.

Had another friend with an 84or85 Nissan 300Z Turbo with 5 speed. That thing was strong, could run with anything on the road in late 80's. One road trip we got to Austin in about 1.5 hrs, less than half of normal drive time, going 130-140 mph.

I haven't driven a lot of fast stuff, but my FJ40 is consistently the most fun vehicle I've driven. Just the hilarity of being so slow and rough, ancient controls, shifting through all the gears by the time you reach 30mph, and having the roof and doors off; it's not really good at anything, but is hands down one of the coolest and most bad ass vehicles to cruise around in imo

Not the fastest, but the most memorable: 08 Lexus is-f....I was 19 & stationed in Wisconsin. My lady-of-the-weeks' mother was a recent divorcee, ex left his new car in the garage & forgot to pocket the keys. Needless to say, it took very little convincing to get them & promptly begin striping the streets of Green Bay @ 11pm. I'll never forget the sound of that 5.0 V8 screaming...that thing was dirty.

When i was 14 i worked at my uncles autobody shop washing cars and sweeping floors.
I got called up to the office one day to move a customer car from the front lot to the rear wash bay.
The estimator threw me the keys , It was the Dodge pentagon , so i am thinking another damn minivan.
    Nope.
    Brand new Red Viper.
Then there were some nice Jaguars , Mercedes , BMWs. Couple older restomod corvettes.
I test drove a 2010 Lexus ISF 300 . That was damn fast.
My dad had a 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury drag racer. Full roll cage and blower. My god that thing would wheelie stand and scare everyone in the county.

What do you have in there? That's really clean too.

I have a 70 in storage that hits high 12s. Not the fastest car I've driven but it's one of the funnest and definitely feels scarier than faster cars I've driven or rode in. Theres nothing like hitting 100mph in a tin can shaped like an airplane wing.

Not fast but this one was certainly cool. Shifting was loads of fun and the steering redefined the word vague.

Sounds mean. I run 2074 with Weber's, engle 130 and CB heads. Trans has short 3rd and 4th, I need to get that out of storage and kill a few more mustang's. You're right on the rear ends, I run stock size rears and they peel all day but better than breaking axles.

So today I spent time with the same friend and got to drive his other ride.. 2005 SLK 55 AMG. This is a stock photo of another one.
I’m just going to say I now have a new top speed I’ve ever driven. Wow. What a fun car. Now I know why he calls it the Red Sled 33AEBF36-2A80-4D45-92E9-3F44A5118FC8.jpg

I picked up one of those for a friend to give her husband for xmas. Definitely know why they were outlawed. Forgot to mention my ride around TMS in a stock car at 180 mph. Had to check my shorts afterwards. I could reach out and touch wall. Did 3 laps.
