Really? Dang, they got snug but never tight. I felt like I was basically just stripping them by turning them more. hmm

I had to start mine a couple of times and wiggle the safe a bit to get them to thread cleanly but once they did I was able to get it tight. They don’t need much torque.

An M6 SS A4 bolt like this is going to have sheer and lifting forces of 2500N - 9000N so that's what, 600 - 2000lbs (each). Show me the gorilla that's smashing his way into your truck to rip out your console, and maybe then I'd be slightly concerned one might come dislodged!

If one's concerned about it, there's always blue LocTite for sure!

I actually thought about that and have some lol! I used it on my black TRD shift knob because unless something has 10k ft lbs of torque I feel like it's going to move hehe.

Might have missed this, but is there a tray that works good with the 1/2 console vault?

I added a flat washer and a lock washer under the head of the bolts but install was super easy. Awesome product. I love that it came with new padded inserts for the bottom of the safe and the now half console area. Incredible deal to get this all for under $150!

If you look at the Lock’er down pictures, it appears that they use the exact same combination locks (at more than twice the price). Yeah the metal may be a thicker gauge steel, but the lock is always the weak point. Nothing is impenetrable. Enough time and enough motivation and anything can be compromised. I have no illusions that this will stop all thefts, but it will surely prevent the smash and grab style.

Is the locker down any different? What makes it better? An can I get one for $119?
Also these things are definitely not foolproof. Any pro can defeat them. But they are good at keeping the meth heads out while you are not in the vehicle for a short amount of time. Mine will be used to secure things while in the forest hiking or mountain biking. Can my shit still get stolen? Of course!
Never leave a firearm in there over night.

I believe the Lockerdown is slightly different than the Consolevault.

Looks like the Lockerdown digital lock has a completely different locking mechanism tho.

Based on what? The perceived value for double the price? Watch the install video. It’s the same lock as the console vault: https://youtu.be/oHV--toD8pY

Yeah you can get a slightly higher security option for $75 more or you can get the digital one for $150 more, but you’re talking $500 when it’s all said and done if you go that route. Are you sure it’s as impenetrable as you’re thinking after spending that kind of coin?

If you have to lose the tray which also hides the whole safe why bother with half?

That’s my thoughts. Would have already bought it if I could get the half and still set the tray in there.

If I lose the tray then oh well. I like the idea of my pew pew being locked up when the valet parks the truck. And I tend to wanna leave a firearm in my truck 24/7

My point is that with the full safe that allows the use of the tray the safe is hidden under vs. plain sight. Any of these safes can be compromised with little effort.

The lock is always the weak point, the screw that holds the cam will break with sufficient force. If you're worried about the lock, check around and find one that seems stronger. Almost all cam locks will interchange with the one that comes with the safe.

A lock like this should lessen the ability of a thief to simply grab the knob with pliers and twist it.

One thing that I've always said. "A lock will only keep an honest person out, a thief will always find a way to get in."

Got mine in. Took about 15 min to install. It came damaged on the lock but everything still works. I'll contact console vault about it later. Nice little lock box especially for the price I paid.

That was some pretty rough handling by the carrier. They're well protected by foam from the factory.
