Damn - you gave your 16 year old a 2011 Tundra? I'd never give one of my kids something with that much power. I remember how I drove when I was that age. No V8s for my kids - unless it is an old gutless one.

That said, I would just make her drive it. I drove a 1976 Ford F150 longbed in college - and often the power steering was out. Taught me how to maneuver a larger vehicle. She'll get used to it.

Her Tundra is pretty damned quick. And I’m pretty sure I’ve bought my last Chevy.

Here’s her Tundra, for those who haven’t seen it:

Somewhat similar situation, my son drives our 2007 DC to High School. I was worried about the Tundra size and tight school parking lot. No narrow roads or traffic but plenty of challenging parking lots with tight spots. He has done surprisingly well. I have thought of getting something newer and more nimble for him to drive for college as well, like a newer 4Runner; he is not even interested. LOL

Your daughter has been driving the 2011 for guessing 2 years or so, it is what she is used to and comfortable with. Maybe great for your son when it's time.

Used Taco or 4 Runner. Smaller but still have a cool factor which matters. They both have Toyota dependability. Everyone wins.

Makes sense to him; you gave her the last Tundra - he gets the present one......... LOL

Brother in Law recently handed down a 2002 Tacoma to his new driver son and picked up a used F150 for himself. His younger son is not excited about getting the Ford when it's time. LOL

I told him he could have his Mom’s Sequoia.

He’s still a couple of weeks shy of 13, so he won’t be driving until 2022. It may just work out for us after all.....

If you end up trading the Tundra, a used Highlander is a good option as it feels cozier and comfier. This particular color CHR shows some personality, wheneverchr.jpg we see this one at the university or parking lots, people always complement it.

Between gas and the amount of people asking her to help move something because she's got a truck........I'd go Corolla.

Am I totally out of line to suggest a vehicle camera, that you can access anytime, that shows the outside as well as the inside of the cab...? I mean... They do that for our work vehicles. :ballchain:

Let her be!!! You are being paranoid which is normal. She will be fine. Is it a PITA to park our beasts anywhere, YES! Is it going to get attention, YES! But that's OK. Because I'm sure your kiddo has good morals, and is responsible. Because no dad would just give this truck away to some little undeserving shit head kid. Just my IMO. Let her enjoy the attention of being a chick in a bad ass truck, getting a college education.

What about a Tacoma? If not a Subaru Crosstrek would be a good choice for her.

This is my tentative plan as well. Get the oldest girl the most reliable / safest truck I can find. Just happens to be what I’m driving now. Almost every kid gets into an accident. Dings happen. You kinda relinquished that right when you gave her the truck. She’ll figure it out. There’s people drive long bed 250’s around that parking lot, they figure it out. SFA is a great school. My wife’s little brother went there. Axe ‘em Jacks!

I agree with this option. After having been around the parking lots at Penn State, if they are even remotely close to as narrow as those spots - a camry or a rav4 will do much much better and be easier for her in the long run.

Don’t dismiss your DAD INSTINCTS as unwarranted paranoia. We are wired this way for a reason.

However, I think it’s fine if she keeps the truck. She’ll undoubtedly let you know if she changes her mind down the road.

    Great looking truck, too.
