So called Toyota and the guy there told me that the can bring it in to have it reset, but also the remote start built into the key fob should work with no subscription, don’t know why I wasn’t told this or why paid for the subscription.

To see if it works for you hit lock button on fob 3 times and hold on the third press.

Also make sure vehicle is registering each press.

I found this post because I am dealing with the same exact thing right now. I renewed my Connect Service last night, went to connect my app to my truck and couldn't get the QR code to populate. I went to reset my System Settings in the dash and once I did that, my app now says I need to renew my subscription, even though I just paid for it. Naturally, Toyotas support is closed on the weekend and then on Monday for the holiday. Exciting stuff with single digit weather and snow coming this week. Anyone have any suggestions on a manual fix right now?

Mine runs out in 2 days. Only looking for remote start, was frustrated to see its now bundled with another feature at almost twice the cost and no more reduced rate by paying annually instead of monthly. Use remote start for 4mos at most makes this ordeal senseless for me.
Another Toyota blunder adding to the engine shutting off when doors are opened after remote start.
Love the truck, engineers have always drove this old guy crazy.
Thanks all for allowing me to get this off my chest.

Hit the SOS button above your head and the 3rd option (i think) is connect services. I have had to do this twice, and it always fixed it right up.

So nothing in this thread worked for me to get the QR code. So I did this.

Open the app, go to account, go to "help and feedback" -> "submit feedback" -> Type "report a problem" -> Category -> "registration".

Then just type out that its not generating a code and the system is a total rip off. You'll get an email 24 hours later saying they re-attached your app to your truck and everything is fine.

I just renewed Remote Connect and had similar problem with no QR code being generated.
Followed sandetundra’s instruction above and that completed the activation without the need for the code.
Why is this still a problem????

Another success story here. This procedure worked for me yesterday as well... except my first try of the sos button I said no to it being an emergency but she replied, connecting you to emergency services, hit the button to cancel and 2nd try worked perfect.

Just an update on this in case anyone else has trouble activating like I just did.

I tried every which way I could think of to activate remote connect through the app and the multimedia screen and the QR code would never appear. I didn't feel comfortable using the SOS button for such a trivial matter, so I called Brand Engagement 1-800-331-4331 and after putting me on hold for a few minutes to activate, they came back on and told me to log out of the Toyota app and log back in and it would be activated. I didn't have to do anything with the vehicle at all.
