That’s exactly why I don’t like going to those franchise car store.
The sale and the installer don’t have any communication. They only communicate when something fuckups.
Like last time I went to discount tires and get 1 different size tires

Coilover part pulls up right part but rear pulls these up and this is not what I have. How would I figure out exactly what I have? I'll look for a part number on them tonight.

They are not Omega shocks. I'm guessing you received 57720P rear shocks based on the pictures you posted

Update: called "store" he said he swapped me to the 2.5 pb because the RTX kit is 5 months out... I told him I want the RTX kit because that's what I was quoted for in my invoice. He said they could order them but I would have to give these shocks back and wait for the other ones to come in or purchase temporary shocks for now. I also asked if I keep these that I should be refunded some money as these are lower end shocks. He told me they were actually more money then the RTX ones and they are the exact same specs except the rtx has the detached resi and a smaller weaker clip on the bottom of them. Kept telling me these were better. I have a 10 day appointment with them tomorrow to torque everything again. I'm going to try and research if the shocks are actually spec'd the same or not. Frustrating to say the least.

I don't know enough about the differences in each shock model to fully call him out, but fuck that. Sounds like he's shady as hell.

If not much trouble take a picture of the lower shock mount. If it doesn’t look like this pic then they are not RXT shocks for RXT springs. If they are, your good, RR(remote reservoir), or piggyback(what you got) is no big deal. Idiots still installed the reservoir in wrong orientation, so don’t expect much obviously.

the point here is, sale did not notify you when he change rear shocks, now he is forcing you to use what ever he gave you. that's hella BS right there

Am I getting the same performance from these as the RTX? I'd rather cut all ties with these people and not hand over my truck again

The RXTs have that lockout on the shock mount for a reason. I don’t know shit about suspension geometry but I’m sure it’s not just there for fun. Either get money back for the difference or get the shocks you paid for.

From their web, it looks like they have similar construction, but it don’t say there’s a difference in valving. But definitely RXT is more expensive

I don’t trust Icon options/availability from internet searches. They do secret squirrel stuff, one of my friends ran Icon stage 1,000. Lol.
If your shocks bottom mount doesn’t look like that, you are not using the full travel available with the RXT. :notsure:

Yeah, more expensive but could just be that the resi is separated and more parts equals more money. I think I'll just keep these and not use this place again. Shame because if they had taken care of me I already had plans to get the rear end redone on my 4runner and I had them quote me on rims, tires, and regear for the Tundra. If he had said flat out, hey we can't get the RXT shocks for months, I can get you these for slightly less and I talked with icon and they told me they are very similar shocks and will work I would have been completely happy CHOOSING these and been set. It's the fact that they tried to slip it past me and didn't know my friends (you guys) would know the difference.

It’s your money, and if you’re good with the final product that’s all that matters. Lesson learned on the shop though. Sucks that it had to go down that way.

I would be cautious with the those rear shocks not having enough droop travel for the RXT leaf springs. The RXT shocks have the offset eyelet to account for a longer shaft and more bump travel. I would pull the leafs apart and cycle the suspension.

So pull that extra leaf out and go bomb down some fire roads? I could load the rear down and drive a few hundred miles like that.

True that. And I'm sure I've dropped enough hints but since the sales guy decided to blow me off I'll just say I went to 4wheel parts here in Tucson. Guy was super helpful up until I dropped the truck off. Then it was like, he closed the sale and no longer needed to be friendly or helpful.

Basically you would remove all the leafs except the main then cycle your axle from bump to droop to see if your shocks are limiting your travel in either direction. I'm assuming these shocks wouldn't limit your bump travel because they are OEM replacements but it never hurts to check. The main concern I would have is droop travel. I have a feeling if you were to jack up the rear until the tires were off the ground then unbolted the rear shocks that the rear would continue to droop quite a bit further. If that's the case then your shocks are essentially being used as limit straps which is not good for the shock in the long run.
