I've been kicking around the idea of upgrading my Factory System. I have the JBL, and prefer to keep my factory deck. My truck is a Crew Max.

    Of the kits I've seen:
    *********
    OEM Audo plus
    tech 12 volts

    Any I missed?

And with this, who do you prefer and why? What are the pros and cons?

Edit: I should state that any route I go. I want it to be as plug and play as possible.
And I will be adding sound deadening sheets to at least the doors.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
    Brandon,

Look at my profile. I did a Pioneer Alpine set up through Best Buy for under a grand and kept my stock head unit.

    Hope this helps.

I'm a huge fan of a rest sound system. From everything I've had the ssystem I've recently installed (I had the pros do it for a warranty on the craft), this one is by far the best sounding system I've had in a vehicle.

I wanted something that would last, sound like I have headphones on, and feature top notch co.ponents.

    Sound system:
Focal speakers (all 4 with tweeters),
    (2) 10 inch subs with custom box,
    8 channel JL amp,

    JL FIX processor

The FIX is something specific to our head units to translate factory sound to an aftermarket quality.
My sub box was custom built to fit under a DC back seat

What model are the Focal? I've always wanted a set of Focals.

    Brandon,

I also used my cargo box for 10" sub and amp.

    Brandon,

It should fit even with a Crewmax. The sub woofer is the thinnest I could find 5" tall And the amp is like 2" tall.

Tech12Volts had a box that fits behind the seat in a CM. They have a version with a spot for amp mounting which means nothing under the seats. It's on my list. I'll be doing a similar setup to @Almaboy. Replace the 4 doors with 6.5 + tweeters, FiX box, 5 channel amp, single 12" sub. I'll disconnect the three speakers in the dash.

I've wondered how not using the dash speakers does for imaging?

Should be fine. If you put a component set in the front doors, you'll wind up with tweets in the sail panels. I spent quite a bit of time in the hotel last week digging around about this. The way the dash speakers are wired might pose problems.

I did this from 12volt. Great experience. I used image dynamics. Fully sound deadend with rammat. I bought image dynamics tweets to use in the dash. It's the nicest sound I've ever had.

I put component Infinity Kappas up front and bought the sail panels with tweeter provisions from Roman and it sounds amazing. I removed my in dash speakers but left the middle dash speaker intact for the time being with no noticeable sound quality degradation.

I too have the Infinity Kappa 60.11cs components up front and man do they sound great. The sail panel replacement was key and they're cheap at $15 apiece.

I went with Tech12 volts as well. My system is completely plug and play with no cut wires at all. I know the JBL makes it a little more difficult, but I would go through James again in a heart beat great customer service.

The sail panel provides better imaging for the tweeters than the dash location.

I'm just not interested in taking my truck apart. I'm not a fan of wiring even though I can handle it.

Would I be ahead if I went to a shop and had them install the amps, speakers, and the processor?

I’m running 4 tweeters as well all in the sail panels front and rear. How much did the ken wood set you back? Pros and cons over one of the android units?
