I have to say, besides 10 Falls in Gypsum, CO...this is the most hard core trail I have run.

Glad I removed the windshield frame...lol.

They might need new vehicles as tired as those seem. A jeep laying down can only mean one thing...time to shoot her and sell her to Elmers glue factory

Don't you dare. Those are horrible platforms to build on. Parts are hard to come by and expensive.
Buy a built rig. Way cheaper to be a Jeeper.

Ha. No worries. It won't be happening. I watch enough of the 40 restorations over at Rising Sun. Impressive but not what I need to get into. If I'm ever going to build any kind of resto, it'll be Eleanor... :burnrubber:

In the event you do something like that, contact Steel City Mustangs. He has done a lot of mustang restorations.

It's a pipe dream. I really want to just buy a shell and do it all myself hence the desire to learn some metal working skills. A few years ago, I came across a guy that put out plans for '67 Super Snake version, 800+ hp. That's what I would probably follow except maybe dial back the hp number a bit. I just need to win the lottery and build myself a space to build the car.

I almost pulled the trigger on an FJ40 for $3k a while back to build up to something great but then realized how much money i would have to put into it to build it to where i wanted.

Exactly why I don't want to do it. Had thought about quite hard. Either a 40 or a Defender 110. Issues were the same and I couldn't justify it.

You could buy an FJ and bring it to these guys to rebuild

    Nama (Raw)

This level is chosen for it's beauty, class, and how it retains its origins. Our mechanics inspect and certify every piece of metal, wiring, and drive-train. Fresh paint and refinished interior will turn heads and get you there in style. The engine is tested, seals and gaskets are replaced, or if necessary the entire engine is rebuilt. Nama (Raw) builds are limited to one per month and take 2 months to complete.

    -Starting at $30,000

    Puro (Pure)

Frame off and stripped down to its "Nuts & Bolts". We take your cruiser down to its bones and individual pieces are painstakingly reworked, or replaced with Japanese OEM parts. This is the definition of "Show Quality", and is an investment-grade vehicle that retains the Cruisers Bare-Bones style and attitude with slight tasteful upgrades to make your trips and trails a little easier to navigate. Puro (Pure) builds are limited to three per month and take 4 months to complete. We intentionally limit our intake of new builds to keep our quality extremely high. These spaces fill up very quickly so we recommend placing orders ASAP.

    -Starting at $45,000
