I hope it works out. I’ve worked with some of the WMI folks here and in CA to help with their end-of-class practicals and scenarios for both FR and EMT. The instructors I’ve encountered have been experienced and extremely knowledgeable. Their students were engaged and well prepared, too. Either course should give you a good base to work from in pursuit of your paramedic.

    Best of luck.

whatup from Longmont. Tons of authentic Mexican in this town to pick from. We also have one of the few Peruvian spots in Colorado and it is legit. New to the Tundra world and this community. You guys ever do meetups or part swaps or anything along those lines.

Is Peruvian food any good? We have a meet coming up at ToyTec, I believe it’s in June. I think we had 27 Tundras at it last year.

My Godchildren are Peruvian. I spent about 9 months combined in Peru. Lima, JuanJui, Iquitos, Tarapoto, Pucallpa. Loved it!
ETA: the folks I worked for were training and training with the SUAT, FAP and the DINANDRO.

I hated it. Cannot stand that country...sounds bad, but it’s true. I won’t be going back anytime soon :)

Back in the late 90's it was really fun, at least I thought it was. Lima was way too big for me. I really dug it in Iquitos and Tarapoto. Maybe it's nostalgia cause I'm getting old.

So/so. Restaurants (even the high end ones we ate it) had fly’s flying around. Seafood was pretty legit.

Cool- was we stayed on the beach (literally, open the door and you’re on sand) for what, $20 or something in American money. We paid $10 extra for hot water.
40oz of beer was like .50 in American money.

Bad- People stealing plants from your garden, they burn the trash on the side of the house, children around 10 or younger at intersections asking for money.

Nobody cares about stop signs (like at all)

Carmen’s mother did make us fresh juice daily though.

Sounds like Mexico. Love driving with no rules. Kids got a kick last summer when I told them stop signs are just “suggestions” in Mexico and I would roll right past them. So much freedom

My sister is adopted from peru. We were in Lima in 1990 meeting her biological mom and meeting her for the first time. I was only six at the time but I still remember the the first time I realized there were armed guards are a lot of the tops of buildings. The other thing that shocked me was the fact that none of the cars had windshield wiper on them. Everyone kept the wipers on the inside because they would be stolen. It was hilarious when it rained and the driver had to stick his hand out the window to keep it clear of the rain. The food was amazing and I only had food poisoning once during month long stay. I also loved me some Inca Cola while I was there but now I can't stand the taste of stuff. I do occasionally have cravings for anticuchos. If you've never had it before you should try it before looking up what it is because it's delicious.

went back and looked at this a little deeper, the Remote EMT class offered by RMI is part of the national registry and also a bit more in depth (just based on the course outlines). same length of time as the NOLS class but it's in seattle so either way i'd have some travel expenses to cover. then it'd be looking at job options and applying to paramedic programs. denver health has one as well as a couple of the local community colleges.

what intrigues me from a job possibility would be working for someone like RMI would be getting sent out to oil fields/rig, production companies, etc. still trying to wrap my head around what else might be available. national park service? who does someone like spot or garmin contract to for rescues? local sar teams? companies like RMI?

we're seriously considering putting the house on the market so i can go do this as i don't see any other way to make it work. saying i need the change is a gross understatement and, my father's will arrived this morning which sent me into a total f'ing rage. the will was the straw that broke my back.

I'm glad you kept it. I have been talking to the wife about getting one but she wants a camper instead.
