Another reason Denver sucks on top of crime, drugs, cost of living:

I just wanted to vent about the traffic. Didn't really expect that to trigger all this. I came here to live the mountain sports lifestyle and I'm doing that. Obstacles be damned. I'm having a good-ass time and will continue to do so. Does it suck? Yeah, a little bit, but I've dealt with worse to experience much less.

Your mistake was going up on a weekend! I have the mid-week pass and live in SE Aurora, usually more like 1.5hr trip, leaving my place at 7:30am

yeah, I get that. One of the staff there said that last Sunday still had a ton of leftover vacationers. I'll actually be up there again on the 25th. I've got the no saturday pass. Not like I want to be there on saturdays anyway.

If you want, meet me up there the 25th.

This was in the same article:

I don't go enough anymore to justify a pass. Back in my earlier days I had Tuesdays off, best time to go. But now I have a grown up job so I either have to take time off to go or get up there at first light but leave around 1pm to beat traffic.

Sounds like 6-12 inches more snow heading towards the metro. Should make for some fun commutes.

    Be safe out there.

It’s rained for a bit in Castle Rock and then dropped a half inch of snow last night. Back roads were fun.

I got notice from my job, last day is Sept 30. I've been "sick" one day every week since.

I'll be up there next Wednesday or Thursday!

New to the thread. Seeking some insight and a place to learn more about my truck as I intend on keeping it through 300k+. 2012 CM 4x4 family daily driver with dreams of making it more of an adventure truck as my kids get older. Owned it for 6 years now and I need a good shop to do the things I don't know or can't invest the time to learn. Need my 150K service and I'm hearing that The Toy shop south of downtown Denver is a good place to go. Got an appointment with an estimate of nearly $1700. Good shop? Reasonable price? I'm a school teacher without limited experience working on this truck. Appreciate your input!

Thank you ColoradoTJ. Another old Irish name in the forum? It was rare when I was a kid but I hear it's a popular name now.

It's the 150K service and I don't believe I had the 120K service. Last time I had full service was 90K. I change the oil every 5k and have had no problems. For $1700; Labor on "severe service 150K" is $340 and a list of parts for scheduled maintenance coming in around $750 total for maintenance. Then Transmission flush labor and parts totaling $400. Then spark plug change total $430. Total labor is $950 and parts $650. I'm price conscious but I also need to find a good shop I can trust for both of our Toyotas. I could buy parts and bring them if they are upcharging the parts but I don't know how they will work with that. Thank you for your input!

The Conor I was talking about was an active member in northern Colorado. He passed away before his time. He was one of the good ones.

Do you wanna give it a shot yourself? Spark plugs are pretty easy with simple hand tools and a swivel joint. I would recommend factory spark plugs and they are pretty cost effective.

I could do the spark plugs. I did the brakes all around shortly after 100k. I've changed the oil myself once and that was all it took to convince me to have someone else do it every time since. It took me too long and was a pain laying on my back to get the skid plate back into place. I like to think I'm handy but I often lack the proper tools and knowledge and it ends up taking me SO much longer that I anticipate. Thoughts on the rest and reasonable cost?

If they are guaranteeing all fluid is coming out of the transmission, 400.00 isn't a bad price. A drain and fill is 2-250.00 and that's only 4 quarts.

The Transfer case and Differentials are very easy and if you select the right tools it makes it rather quick.

I did the rear diff, CVT oil, front diff on my wife's Subaru in a couple hours. This was a 1200.00 service that I performed for under 200.00.

Thank you TJ. Looks like some research and trying a few things myself could make this much more affordable. I'll start with the spark plugs and see how much I can get done before my appointment there. You know anything about The Toy Shop?

I know nothing about any repair place in your area. Not much help there. Maybe some of the other CO members will chime in.

I've always had Jace at Stevenson Toyota West do anything on my Toyota's that I couldn't do. I've known him personally for close to 15 years now. If you ask to get scheduled with him he'll take care of you. You can always get a quote from him prior to work too
