This is the danger of black Tundras on ice. Too fast for their own good.

I think that attending and passing a race car driving school should be required prior to purchasing a black Tundra. I agree not all drivers can handle that sort of speed.

When I replied, I hadn’t gone to hunt down the full story. So I assumed the 3rd gens were there to rescue the the 2nd gens...cruddy day for all I’m sure. Someone in the comments said they were very unprepared and had to get rescued because they didn’t have enough warm clothes and food...
    :notsure:

I was wheeling up north with some friends and had to get winched up by a jeep because I couldn’t get rolling on an ice hill...so i feel the pain (almost).

It wouldn’t have mattered if it had been 4 Jeep’s/Chevy/Ram/Ford vehicles. The outcome would have been the same without chains or some other traction devices. Unfortunately it was just a group of overconfident and underprepared wheelers. Island Wheelers is a club from HI....and assuming these guys are most likely military.

I started the day out in 19* weather with no windshield or top. Still warm due to prep. We had a couple well built rigs that had to take rope on our trail. One Gladiator on 37’s and a 3rd Gen Tacoma OR that is built to the hilt. For them it was a traction and wheel base issue.

Damn, I just realized... I think that trail pileup was the Colorado Tundras trail run. I was invited, but my tires are almost dead and I didn't want that to happen to me.

Seems they would have been better off just running the trail on foot.

The lead runner would slip anyways with everyone behind him crashing into to him.

Trying to decide what's worse. The Tundra pileup or getting bogged down alone in the middle of nowhere on a remote "dry" alkali lake in Nevada:monocle:

LOL. Probably would have been worse.

I'm learning to stay away from these FB organized trail runs. The off-road specific groups, maybe, but those truck social groups hell naw. The last one I went to, I actually fell asleep at the wheel because someone didn't realize their 4x4 was broken and got stuck in a big water hole. I woke up 45 minutes later and they were still trying to recover him.

I haven't had too many issues with FB runs, but we are pretty selective on where and who.

Some of the guys here I have went on easy runs with the GMC. By all means it was easy and just a good time with great people. No way in hell would I take a truck back in those locations without running chains

Got quoted $4664 (with a CMC and SDHQ plates) locally for Fox 2.5’s with a lead time of 12-18 weeks for arrival and Kings are possibly longer. So...they are out..OME BP51’s would be awesome..but they are expensive considering I need a leaf pack and UCA’s. Going to ask for a quote but I am struggling to throw over 5k into a lift.

I am just fighting that I’m a workin man. I’ve saved my whole life. I rarely throw around “fuck you” money, and every prior lift I’ve done has been a Bilstein 5100...I just wanted to do it up this time and it’s more about ride quality as I feel I could get a simple lift much cheaper.

    Calling Toytec next...

ToyTec has a lot of options/stock of what you might be looking for. If they don't have anything, call Ben at Filthy Motorsports or Down South Offroad. Also, check out Accutune Off-road.
