Beware, Gilpin, Summit, and Clear Creek counties are currently off limits unless you are a resident and being enforced at all trailheads. There may be other counties along the front range. Best to verify with the Forest Service folks. All state campgrounds are closed indefinitely too. Lots of folks might be getting a wake up ticket.

Back in 1976 I went to the same sand dunes I had been going to for years. Due to my negligence of not being aware of a recent closure.......a green BLM International Scout drove up. I got written up. $500 fine. In 1976...Fed fine. Had to drive up to Portland, Orygun to get my ass chewed out by a Fed Magistrate. Ended up paying $250 for driving on sand.

My friend Marvin has 24 acres at 10600 ft way above Central City. My local stomping grounds after the snow melts. He can't even go up there until the non-resident prohibition goes away. Hopefully soon. There is no true stay at home lifted statewide. It varies depending on what you are doing. Ignorance is not a virtue....heh.....heh...

On another note....the FS has been closing off a lot of wheeling trailheads the last 3 years that have been accessible for decades. The jaws are tightening......

It’s interesting because the case data shows Summit, Gilpin, clear creek numbers far lower than anywhere else. Do you find this to be in direct correlation with these counties restricting “outsiders” traveling to these areas? Just curious, not looking for arguments.

That’s their thought, I think. As well as many of these places having limited local emergency services (many of whom are being repurposed from fire or EMS right now) and limited advanced medical capacity if an outbreak does happen.

Several high country and west slope counties have taken the same approach - Gunnison, Hinsdale, San Juan, and Chaffee counties to name a few - with orders more restrictive than the statewide order.

No offense but case data doesn't mean squat. Most of the folks succumbing to Covid up there are elderly and in confined care situations. Most deaths being reported nationwide are with the elderly that are in confined care. Those counties don't want asymptomatic folks that might be positive going up there. Direct correlation. My 95 year old mom is in the same situation. Off limits to family. I wouldn't want you or anyone else putting her life at risk....I know ...what does that have to do with going up there to 4 wheel? Problem is everybody and their brother was ignoring the stay at home order to get in some last minute skiing and snowboarding up there in total disregard of the situation = crack down. Besides.....too much snow to do any wheeling up there for several weeks. Bottom line...the powers that be in those counties will determine when we can go back up there. Moot point....

I'm so tired... Working from home AND packing at the same time is playing hell on me right now. Is the In N Out in Aurora open yet?

I think one will be going up near Aurora Town Center across from the mall on Alameda. The Springs get them first. There is a Kali Fat Burger near me.

I thought I read that they've only recently acquired the property for the proposed Aurora location.

Yep! Where is the pic of the triple King? That pic is the double naked no bun burger. I like to watch the locals order. There's a large griddle the burgers are cooked up on that is hard to miss, the thing is the locals don't realize that there is a small charbroiler at the far end. Luv my charbroiled Fat Burger. Destroys Whataburger hands down easy.
