OK, I drank the kool-aid and just did this upgrade. These are the bulbs I used ($18 from alibaba). I have been using non-projector LEDs, but have not been happy with the beam pattern or cutoff. I have high hopes for the mini projectors. Now I just have to wait for it to get dark. And before you ask...yes, I still needed a resistor on the passenger side.

    IMG_5210.jpg
Based on the all the comments in this thread, I'll start looking for my next set (next gen?) of mini projectors before these fail. Since I've modified the housings to accept the mini projectors. I'm kinda stuck now unless I buy new housings.

Another concern is that I can see how to reinstall the bulb shields without covering the fans. Does anyone have a creative solution to this problem?

I was able to toss mine on with a much larger heatsink. What's the issue preventing you from doing the same?

OK, I'll try that. I was just afraid of restricting the air flow.

It's dark now. I guess I have some adjusting to do!

Left looks like it may be really close, maybe a hair low. Right side definitely needs to come down. But looks good! Damn bright. I think you'll love 'em, that cutoff looks way better than the CO/BraveWAY bulbs.

A few... Definitely more than 2
I hopped on this for my brother's truck. Popped them in (with all the modifications of course) and turned it on... very bright, very impressed! However the cutoff was less impressive.

Used the headlight kit from Cerakote to clean up the headlights. Immediate improvement! Clear cutoff and even more light output when it is not getting scattered through the oxidation.

It also gives a more modern look to the front end with zero light in the reflector bowl and only the small projector.

If I get a few extra bucks over this winter break I may need to do the same. I love the crazy output of my headlights but I'm really not a very big fan of the ultra white headlight look. I think having those more yellowish bulbs would be the absolute perfect combo for our trucks.

At the same time, the ones I have work just fine.

The ones I have and @shifty`s are fan-less and the heat sink is removable, it just unscrews (this was the case with mine, can’t say for sure about others) then the boot went on and the heat sink could be screwed back on outside the boot.
I wouldn’t put the fan inside the boot, might either need to cut a slit in the boot so it fits over the heat sink/fan or just leave the boot off.

I just installed a set of these over the weekend. Great light output once they are aimed correctly.

But, my "high-beam" indicator light doesn't work now. Do I need to add a resistor to the line?

The most likely answer to that is "YES", and you probably only need one, most people put it on the passenger side of the lighting circuit/builb.

If you hit CO Light's website, there are other options there. https://www.led-colight.com/collections/built-in-lens-series

Their Y6 is probably the closest thing (in fanless) to the one everyone is discussing here in this thread. I like the Y7S cutoff and all, but the three-color setup is a huge turnoff for me, personally.

I have the Y6 lights and they put out good bright white light. There is a blue strip at the cutoff. They also point higher than stock halogens and if I adjust them down far enough the housings look wierd at the hood line. I accept them being a little high and really never get flashed by anyone.

Is there any mod you can do to the way they mount/twist so as to avoid that? I've been considering these too and I saw the earlier pics of the maxed out factory adjusters trying to compensate - not ideal.

It's natural abberation, either from the housing itself, or the cheaper quality of the lens they're using in the bulb itself.

Do you know if anyone's got pics of the Y6 for output? I just saw they are on sale rn so might grab a set but how bad is the blue cutoff line?

Yeah, I was actually curious to know two things myself, I think I asked earlier in the thread but I think I do a lot of things when I really don't.
    1. How do you switch between the different bulb color/temps?
    2. Do they reset back to the cool blue/white every time you start the truck, or hold the most recent color?

Yeah the color switching is a head scratcher like do they have a separate switch that you gotta mount up to switch colors? It's definitely confusing to me atleast lol

When I checked them out the 1st time, it sounded like you switch colors by turning the headlight switch on/off or maybe by flashing the highbeams on/off. That just sounds ... like maybe it would lead to lots of confusion if you flick your headlights or highbeams at someone. And if it resets/defaults to one specific color it would be annoying as hell. I meant to hop in chat and/or message them to ask, I've got too much on my plate to throw energy at it.

From their website, these three seem to be the closest options ones, with the outside two being fanless options (my personal preference for a variety of reasons). The right-hand bulb is the one discussed in this thread which got pulled from scAmazon, and was being sold by Colight and BraveWAY. There are other options also, with the different lens style, which may have less aberration at the top of the cutoff line. (Y9Plus being one of those), but those are all fan options so I haven't bothered. (Link)

That would be dumb as hell lmao, plus why would one need/want yellow as the main headlight bulbs unless you just don't have fog lights but even then just add some aftermarket ones it would work better lol
