    Hey everyone,

Looking into building my truck and one of the shops I spoke with advised me against spending money on a good set of coilovers due to our winter climate up here in Canada.

From what they told me, is that seals in the shocks will need to be rebuilt after every winter. They have seen Fox, Kings, Icons etc needing seals after a single winter.

They recommended just using Bilstein shocks since they are built to Toyota specs and can handle several winters with salt etc.

Has anyone run coilovers in Winter climates without any issues and if so, what brand?
    Thanks,

    Welcome to the site.

    Check out these shocks:

    Also in Canada.

Our own suspension guru @jberry813 put these on his Tundra over his King Shocks.

He did a detailed write up comparing King vs Elka.

    Hope this helps you out.

I have fox on mine and hoping that the winter doesn't kill them

We get pretty bad here as well and we are just south of Toronto

Get the icon coilover covers. After one winter my collar was stuck and unable to adjust.

road salt kills anything really: no brand is safe imo. Just get the truck ready before the winter. Spray some Fluid Film or mavcoat, use shocks boots..etc

    Function before sparkle.
I had Icons for 10 years on my Tacoma. I live in Alberta. Rebuilt them twice, never because of corrosion.

My Tundra has Elkas. Fully aluminum so no rust issues.

Like any vehicle part, keep it clean and it won’t rust.
