Try this little experiment, swap sides of tie rod. That kink going in the other direction may give a little more clearance.

I haven’t seen @ToyTec Lifts in here. I’m sure they install lots of these. Wondering if they have any insight or info.

The new ZONE UCA is great for this application, it uses a Moog greasable ball joint. Josh at SV Customs has awesome pricing for our forum guys.

Thanks David. Do you happen to know how much more extra caster these give compared to the oem units

I have Zone uppers, and have had them at 4”(don’t ask), 3”, and 2.5”. Caster has run around 4.5 to 5.5 degrees, but they only add caster, no camber. So you are maxing your cams for camber out no different than stock, with probably decent numbers, albeit with more caster. I am slowly trying different arms, and Total Chaos was the best for me, mark cams, lift 3”, set cams on marks, almost perfect.

Zero, they are based off the factory UCAs but position the ball joint up to decrease the angle.

I have the total chaos UCAs and was able to achieve ~4 deg caster angle. Rides great. No coilover interference.
The SPC Light Racing UCAs are very adjustable if you want that flexibility to ensure the correct alignment.

The Zones shouldn't be adding any extra caster but 4.5-5.5 is high compared to what they normally align at. We normally see mid 3 degrees. The TC are really nice:headbang:

Sorry for the delay in responses So the issue that is clear here is you have way to much posititve caster going on there... I would highly recommend getting that dialed back in accordingly.
Just Like Csuviper stated, the SPC uppers are going to be the best bet to insure proper Caster spec the first time without any issues.

Zone and my directions state otherwise, just want to know cause all I have seen in alignments is caster. Mine added 1.5 degrees of caster.

Thanks for the correction and post, When they released this design we were told the only difference was the angle of the ball joint. Def not the case.

Nice. So it’s a nice medium between stock and Camburg/TC.

Anyone know how much JbA uca adds? Another one I would consider.

I don't know how much caster the TC arms offer but I've been told by Keith, @dirtydeeds , that Camburg adds the most caster. That said, a lot of people are successfully running Camburg arms.

At 3” with Total Chaos I had 3.2 driver, 3.6 passenger degrees caster. I talked with the JBA guy and he had similar numbers.

I think they are, and keep in mind with the TC, the alignment cams were basically in the stock position, so you have lots of room to run more or less caster, and have greater flexibility of wheelwell placement.

Basically, where I am at, on 2 out of 3 sets of arms. My Zones are aligned fine, but my driver side cams are maxed doing so. This means my camber defines my caster setting, that’s it your stuck with that number. The passenger side on our trucks follows up accordingly, without being completely maxed. It seems like most use this approach from first hand experience. This is why I think Total Chaos is better, I personally don’t consider Camburg because I don’t want to chop, and I have to run mudflaps. Now have TC make an arm with oe style bushings, and my tundra life is complete. Don’t be afraid of uniballs, I was, it was just a ball joint I maintained with my garden hose instead of grease gun.

    *update*

Re-installed my oem uca and got a new alignment. Caster is 2.8* and the shocks clear the tie rods by a good fat finger now. Not sure what really caused the issue if it was the camburg arms or the alignment but either way I’m good for now.

So in the end there really is no need for new UCA's. Thanks for working this out @BlueBottle

It still ideal to go aftermarket UCA. The stock ball joints won’t last that long because of the angle it’s at with a lift. I just don’t have time to deal w this at the moment.

Are you still at 3in up front? If you're down to 2.5 I think you will see that the stock UCA's will hold up just fine. Ive had 2 lifted 4runners in the past with 2.5 inch up front without aftermarket UCA's that had no issues in the long run.
