This is something that worked for me for those who might have a clunk or creaking noise when stopping, accelerating from a stop or turning at low speeds. I replaced some front suspension components mainly because it needed it anyway but also hoping that this noise would be taken care of. Unfortunately it did not. I found a TSB 0067-09 from 2009 that supposedly helps with this. Lo and behold all it took were 4 bolts to fix a problem that had plagued me for 1.5 years. I guess the original bolts that joined the rear transmission mount and the frame crossmember had fallen out as all 4 were missing.

I know this is probably old news for most but I thought it might help someone who overlooked this TSB. It seems to only apply to 2005-2006 2WD Tundras and 2005-2007 2WD Sequoias.20190816_194815.jpg 20190816_194913.jpg 20190816_195503.jpg

And all you were experiencing was a clunk?
    Wow.

I had one single bolt come out from the bottom once on my 99 Tacoma. The other 3 had just started working their way loose. Didn't notice any strange driving conditions. Then again my Tacoma makes too many other sounds and feels so who knows.

Actually most of the time it was just a groaning or creaking noise when I would accelerate from a dead stop. Never heard it during normal driving once I was in motion. I've read from others that there would be loud popping sounds during acceleration or going over bumps. It drove me crazy anyway and all it took were 4 bolts. Just glad the noise is gone. :)

This seems to have worked for me as well! I just checked my Tundra and all four bolts were in place but loose. Once they were tightened, I took it for a drive and the clunking noise I’ve heard for months has vanished!

What kind of bolts did you need to do this? I’ve been dealing with the dreaded clunk at low speeds (found the TSB article too) and yep, all 4 bolts are missing.

Pull up the TSB it includes part numbers for the cross member and the bolts I believe.

Double-check your crossmember carefully for hairline cracks.

My cross member has 1 crack. My regular shop has a welder. They are going to fix it.

As with the other Tundramen, I’m all fixed up now. With 4 new Sachs shocks, no more clunking.
Totally new ride. Even my Wife said: night and day difference.
