Have not been impressed with my BakFlip. I have seen some other hard top tri-fold tonneaus that were much better. Do it over, I'd get a composite surface. The BakFlip aluminum is really really thin, for one.

I guess that was one of my biggest worries, is how easy it will be to dent and scratch... Thanks for the feedback.

And I am sorry if I upset anyone. Not my intention. The BakFlip is much better than a soft tonneau cover. But compared to some of the other hard top tri-folds I have seen and handled, it can use some improvement. And while I am on that subject here, the hardware should be good enough quality that it does not rust within a few weeks of installation (and these are the hardware nuts, bolts, rivets INSIDE). The hard material should be strong enough to withstand the kinds of bangs and bumps anticipated in the pickup bed of a truck; mine has dented and even punctured easily. One puncture came from a trapping tool sticking up out of the pack basket and when the last fold came down, <pop>. Not even that hard of a drop. A couple days ago the last fold was open, folded back, and sticking to the middle fold for some reason, and I could not pull it up to close it onto the tail gate. I climbed up in the bed of the truck and slowly worked my fingers into the slight crack between the middle and last panel, and eventually it worked free with a lot of effort. No sign of where it stuck or how or why, but it was a waste of time. I could go on, but I would encourage people to look farther and select what for you is the right blend of quality and value. For the $800 I spent on the BakFlip, I think there are better values to be had.

Get the revolver! When you drive with it rolled up you still have full view out of the back window. It sits flush with the bed rails and looks way cleaner than the bakflip.

Ahhh you're killing me! Those are the reasons I almost decided on the revolver. . but I'm worried about how it will hold up over time and how it will hold up to our extremely cold and icy Canadian winter... I've seen the video of the guy who couldn't roll his up properly in the winter. .

IMO I think they are equally durable. You are right about rolling it up in the winter. It has to be free of snow for it to roll up tightly. But to flip the panels up on the other one it probably has to be clean also.

Yes, definitely has to be free of snow on top... the issue I'm referring to is the slats underneath being frozen combined with the vinyl on top being stiff, causing it to not roll up properly. .

Although NJ is not nearly as bad as Canada in the winter I had no problems cleaning off the snow rolling the cover up and putting my snowblower in the truck this past winter.

Here in PA that rollup tonneau cover would be about worthless in the winter. Little snow, some freeze-thaw-freeze cycle and you'd be at risk of destroying the cover just to open it.
