Well as i mentioned before, I don’t really like the wheels, as a matter of fact the only thing I like about them is that they're black lol

They stick out too much because of the offset, I drive thru a puddle and it dirties the whole side of the truck, they have a off road look to them and not the street look that I’m going for. Also what’s more sleeper than a oem wheel?

So after hunting around and even offering to trade these wheels I found some very affordable bbs wheels that I couldn’t pass up.

    D7EA1775-6740-452B-9B61-7E55262D6F50.jpg

They even came with some 275/60-20 tires which I’ll be swapping over to the black wheels and then selling.

I should make money from this swap and that’s how I sold it to the wife ;)

I ordered them from cool springs Toyota. 5.7 emblems are from a tundra trd pro and the “trd” emblems are from the 4Runner trd pro.

So I did plenty of research on swapping out the front steel bumper for a resin/ plastic one. It wasn’t very cost effective. I also looked into getting it powder coated, I didnt like the price of that either.

So finally I decided to do a high quality vinyl wrap, it was the cheapest route.

I don’t if I should spray paint the front emblem in 202 or not, but it seems that the war on chrome is over!

    Coming along nicely!

I'd leave the chrome emblem. If you decide to replace the headlights, I'd replace it then, but personally I think it ties things together a bit in the front. Your truck, your call, but that's my 2cents :)

Yeah, I remember when these trucks first came out, a lot of people used to confuse them with dodge rams lol I’m going to leave it as is for now.

Looks bad ass with all the chrome gone. Are you planning to paint or powder coat those sweet BBS wheels? I like those a lot.
If you leave them as is I think maybe doing your front Toyota badge is a brushed or matte silver color to match would be cool.

Well you sir need to buy a lotto ticket because I just took the wheels to my cousin, I’m going to have them coated, they were a little sun beat, the clear on them was fading, I threw the center caps away because they were brittle and baked not to mention chrome lol.

I’m contemplating on a color right now, not going to go with black because I want the wheels to be seen, black would just wash in with the rest of the truck.

I am methodically De-chroming my Super White RCSB, the grille and front bumper are the only chrome remaining. I snapped up a second set of alloys to paint / coat, but I'm not sure what color they will be just yet. Following for inspiration.

I an really digging bronze wheels these days. A dark bronze would look cool. I think black and charcoal are kinda overplayed at this point.

So everything has been pretty much cosmetic up to this point, can’t be a sleeper without adding power, this is step one to address that:

    32C46E5F-F90F-4FB5-9F8F-3EDEC0821DF0.jpg B98E89E8-94A5-4B75-AC56-47E8755FACC2.jpg

I used a coupon on these and got them for a hefty discount so that’s a win, but i wasn’t too impressed will the quality of the welds, maybe I’m being too picky but I’m going to start a thread in the performance section to get feedback on that.

So if y’all saw the thread I made for the headers, it’s obvious the horsepower gods don’t want to share their power with me just yet.

Sooooo getting back to the wheels, my cousin sent me a pic and they came out great!

After going back and forth on colors, bronze, gold, gunmetal and hyper black I settled on a oem looking color that’s shows off the wheels well. Not too flashy to keep the sleeper thing going.

    Ooh lala
    409E7F75-1137-4456-8B8F-2EB747B6B077.jpg

Color is actually a oem color that Audi uses on wheels. It’s called dark grey metallic something something something lol can’t remember but I love the way they came out. Has more depth than regular gunmetal.

    Will mount sometime next week.

Perfect choice on the wheel color. I think those in bronze wouldn't look as good (from the guy with a black tundra on bronze wheels ).

Pop that chrome piece out from around the cup holder and spray that matte black. Also hit that stuff around the shifter. The war isn't over yet!

Almost went with bronze, but I thought about it and bronze on any vehicle pretty much means that thing is modded. Trying to stay incognito.

It’s a second gen, it doesn’t have all those chrome interior pieces that the third gen does. War is over, chrome has even signed and turned in a peace treaty lol
