I’ve been a member of this site now for a bit over a year and couldn’t help but notice that the majority of folks are anti-chrome. I’ve been a fan of chrome since I was a kid, and believe it stems from the bmx days of the rad full chrome frames and their shiny spokes (I'm an 80s kid). So, I thought I’d throw together this goofy survey as my curiosity has sparked as to why there are so many haters…

I can't vote because there isn't one that says "I dont mind chrome." I like a balanced look and not one extreme to another.

I think it looks cheap. Havingt said that though, I am considering keeping my bumper corners chrome and ust plastidipping them regularly, and keeping my chrome grill surround. I plan on having this truck for many many years, so when I get older and just want a change I like having the option of de-murdering my truck and having the trd pro grill insert with chrome accents again.

I dont mind the chrome, but im older and chrome was cool back in the day.

Even swapped the chrome door handles from my 2011 CM over to the 2016 CM I have now.
Salesman said they wont fit... LOL

I don't mind Chrome, but I'm going for something different with this truck. My grill surround was bubbleing, so I needed to fix that anyways, and a black surround was cheap enough. Figured I'd plastidip the bumpers and then I can always pull it off if I don't like it.

I replaced the chrome pieces on the front of my 2018 with color matched. I really like the result (see my avatar) and get compliments on it all the time. I also replaced my mirror covers (which were black) with color matched as well.

Don't mind a little stock chrome mixed in. Actually prefer chrome bumpers, seems much more of a durable finish than the painted ones. Not a big fan of the painted shrouds on newer vehicles.

I think for me, it's less of a dislike for chrome - and more of a like for uniformity. If my whole truck was chrome I think it would be sick.

I don't see the need to be different in blacking out the chrome...like everyone else does...:monocle:

I like the chrome. I mean can you imagine a 1958 Caddie with all the chrome...inside and out, blacked out? :annoyed:

I think Toyota went overboard on the chrome in the grills on '16-'17 SR5 trims. The bumpers were not too bad but having chrome in both the surround and grill insert was too much. A color surround and chrome insert would have been fine or chrome surround and black insert like '14-'15 SR5s. The key is balance and on that they went too far.

Don’t care for that. I mean I don’t hate it. I don’t mind some tasteful chrome removal. But that just takes away the essence of a Cadillac. I had a 64 olds. Had it painted flat black somewhere around 1998. But Bright work was intact and beautiful. It really looked nice. Kind of deathed out but some real nice oem bling to go along with it.

the only items on my truck that are chrome are the grille surround and the rear bumper. Since it is an 07, I don't think its worth it to try to color match them. It probably wouldn't be cheap and it probably wouldn't look right if I did it myself. I am going to live with it and spend money on more important items.

Me love me some chrome! Always have , always will!!! But I like how black looks on some trucks and motorcycles and I’m open to changing looks if I feel that it is right for that particular vehicle . I’m an older dude, so chrome is all I knew growing up.

It just looks awful and cheap. I think on older/classic vehicles it doesn't look bad but just looks like garbage on modern vehicles.

I'm under the age of 70, I don't camp out in the left lane, I don't buy accessories from Habor Freight and I don't have a fetish for tacky trinkets and knick knacks.

    Therefore, I hate chrome. :D

Just a Bed Rug and Snugtop XTRA Vision
When I think of chrome, I think of the days of old, when the more you paid, the more you got and the more snazzy the car was. My mom and dad had one of these:
They also had a 54 Ford sedan, two tone blue with chrome, then a 63 Rambler station wagon with chrome around everything and then a 68 Olds Cutlass Supreme that I learned to drive on. I remember all the Caddies and Buicks with those big chrome grills, always wanted one. Still do. Then cars started to get 'cheap' looking, plastic 'chrome' then not even bothering to cover the plastic with chrome. Cars with big fat black plastic bumpers, then colored plastic. We were told that chrome was passé, when it was the auto makers looking to save a buck and charge us more. I wish the chrome on my tundra grill was real chrome, not plastic but those days are gone forever.
Oddly, I was expecting to be a minority here (don't mind the chrome) and well, been one all my life I'm used to it. But I see 'don't mind' neck and neck with 'don't like'. Appears the chrome look is polarizing (sorta like democrats and republicans these days).
