Installed my TPO bumper covers over the weekend, they match the existing bumper well. Looking forward to covering up the remaining chrome!

    Tips:
    - On the back covers, start by sliding the edge of the cap under the center bumper cover and push up. Then pry up a little of the top cover and slide the edge of the cap underneath it. The rest will easily pop into place.
    - On the front there is more fitting to do, make sure you get the back edges under the loosed body panels prior to attaching the front

I'm apart of the beta test group for the grille surround and hood bulge overlays. I'm fortunate enough to live local to the company and was able to pick mine up yesterday. I got a tour of the shop from Grant (EC1) as well, so I got to see the manufacturing process. He was awesome to work with and the way these things are made is really cool. He didn't give me any pointers as he wanted me to get through the install on my own.

    To the install:

I gave my front end a good cleaning and wipe down per the instructions. I then dry fit both parts a couple times to make sure I was comfortable with how they went on and lined up. For the dry fit it's not necessary to have help but for the install I think it would certainly be beneficial to have an extra set of hands, although it could be done by yourself. I feel the second set of hands is helpful because you have to peel the all the double sided tape at once and then work the grille surround into place. It helped having someone there to hold a piece in as I worked it around, while trying not to put too much pressure until I was sure the fit was how I wanted. The hood bulge was a breeze but I would still recommend help as you work it into place because of the tape and how it slides on. The biggest thing with the hood bulge I found was to make sure you get it pushed tight against the bulge where it ties into the small bulge grille piece, if that makes sense. I started on one side for both pieces and then just worked my way across, again not trying to put tons of pressure until I was sure the fit was how I wanted.

I'm going to refrain from mentioning anything further details to give the other beta testers a chance to do the install. Only took about 45 minutes and that was with me taking my time and tending to the tri-tip I was smoking. Overall, I'm very pleased with the fit and finish of the product and believe it's a great addition.

Body lines look a little off in some areas, but I'm just nitpicking..these are overlays after all. Color looks great. Can't wait for full release.

A lot of work is going into these, but I was still hoping OE colors wouldn’t hit the 400 mark for overlays- ouch....oh well- I still need a set anyway, as soon as possible

400 is definitely steep when you can get the OEM parts online for <500

    Where?
Sparks is like 520 before shipping and tax, closer to 630 after.

I know that I paid either 545 or 555 after tax at my local dealer for color matched bulge and surround. They had the bulge in stock but had to get the surround out of Houston. It was there the next morning. Nice because you don’t have to pay for shipping.

If I can’t find a dealer that offers free shipping ( which is rare ), to me it’s worth a few bucks more to get it locally whether I have to wait a day or two if not in stock.

not a cheap mod regardless if you do factory or overlays but that being said, for ME ( don’t hate ) it’s worth the difference if you can find a deal for the real thing. Just my .02

Yeah I was hoping it wouldn’t be around 400 either. Has me debating between matching the surround and bulge to my bumper with the black tpo or going color match. Ugh

This is for 1D6 Silver Sky from my local dealer. 504.40 with tax. I think I'd rather pay the extra hundred. Was hoping these would come in closer to 300 or less.

Agreed. I was considering these, and I was on the fence about whether or not to change out my 1794 grille as well, but at this price point the decision has been made easier. Will go with the OEM TRD Pro or SR5 honeycomb grill plus the color matched surround and bulge.

I actually just bought the OEM color matched cement for my truck. I have had the TPO ones from EC1 since I got the truck and they've been great. The only reason I am switching out is because i had an opportunity to get color matched.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy the EC1 color matched as the quality and fit and finish is more than I expected with my TPO ones.

I agree that the BumperShellz are a great product and I also believe them to be fairly priced, which is why I bought some. Very happy with them. This is also why a few of us were surprised and disappointed at the price point for the surround and bulge pieces.

Maybe in a group buy with a discount, but full price at 400 is a no no for the bulge and surround.

Yeah, I get dealers don’t make cap replacements already painted any longer. So there is a market for alternatives from people doing wraps, plasti to covers so you can charge for the demand for the cap covers. That being said, charging 400 for a “overlay” and not a replacement would be a no go for me. I don’t care how good you think they look or fit or match.... not the real deal. Considering how expensive the mod is already, I would buy the factory ( which I did ) even though it was a little more. Not the most expensive mod out there but worth saving for.... imho.. just sayin

point of clarity, the OEM color matched were estimated at around $400. The black options like matte, bed liner, tpo, and paintable are around in the 200 range. When this idea first came out I was almost certain I was going to get the grille surround and bulge in silver sky. But I'm now considering the tpo to match my bumper shellz or getting the paintable and then ordering silver sky from automotive touchup and painting them myself. Would still end up paying around $250 and have to put my spray paint skills to the test... On Sparks Parts I can get a platinum grille and hood bulge for $570 and its the actual pieces, not stick on. This is a harder decision than I wanted it to be. lol. $400 is still less than a full replacement. Someone tell me that black surround and bulge would look good on my truck.hahaha

I agree- I was sold on getting these overlays since their production was announced and we were told we would likely be happy with the prices they come up with. I was thinking...hoping they’d come in 250-300 range and would be worth it for overlays at 50% of the cost of the real deal. Hearing 400 today really hit me and it is not an easy decision now at that price to tape something on. I wish I had just bit the bullet and bought the platinum grille and bulge months ago now. Oh, in my opinion do not black yours out!

lol, thanks man. I might just get the paintable parts and color match them myself. not sure. Not sure I can sneak a whole grille replacement by the wife. Don't tell her I said that...

Same here- trying to do upgrades as discreetly as possible, lol. I don’t dare try to paint them myself in such a visible area- I’d screw it up. If you do successfully paint them, please post how you did it.

Something I would consider, buy the OEM silver sky hood bulge. Then after seeing your truck that way you can decide on the tpo bumpershellz surround to match the bumper or go OEM silver sky surround.

I have the Limited with chrome, and I bought the OEM attitude black hood bulge to match the hood and still have the chrome surround. The color matched bulge looks very good and I have been biding my time on deciding what I want to do with the grill/surround.
