I’m a Sig Sauer man myself. But that’s why they make chocolate and vanilla, because not everybody likes strawberry.

One good thing is you’re not a female.

My girlfriend went out and wanted to buy a SIG P938 and they guy behind the counter handed her a pink revolver. I wasn’t sure she wasn’t going to jump the counter and donkey Kong that guy.

Yep. Sigs multiply like rabbits if you arent careful. I really like the P320. great gun for the money and for me , way nicer to shoot than glock

I was able to get my hands on a Sig P365. The guy changed the mag to the 12 rd with pinkey extender and that was bad ass. My hand fit really well on that vs the Glock. Feel like i would be more in-control with my whole hand on the gun vs the 3-finger option of the G42 or even G43. The 12 rd mag made all the diff in the world.

But...no saftey at all. Which, coming from rifles and shotguns, i still consider to be insane but this is normal what what i’m seeing from a quick trip to my local gun store

Some of the nicest shooting pistols are the Glock 17 with the RTF2 frame.

It does look sweet but do you CC this? Looks big for that purpose? The grip looks ‘normal’ size vs being compact

    No, I CC a G34 or a G41.
The longer sight radius puts me on target fast.

Stop now and go seek out an NRA instructor before you have an accident.

I've already said no less than 10x's in this thread that one of my tenants is ex-military, teaches nights at the local gun range and i'll be buying lessons from him as my instructor. This post is about pre-purchase advice given a few options that became available. It's not about me being crazy or careless and i have not even made a purchase yet. I would hope most gun owners/advocates would respect these types of pre-purchase questions and discussion points, no matter how basic the questioning. I have no shame in saying i'm new to CC handguns. Thanks for your input and concern.

Never mind some of the negative. There's always the people that think that only NRA instructors can teach gun safety and how to properly shoot a weapon....and amazingly usually are NRA instructors.

Have you tried a G5 out in the G17? Seeing what your thoughts are....asking for a friend.

You didn't. Just a bold statement. NRA instructors are a good source for gun safety, but not the only good choice.

Reading the complete thread might benefit.

None yet but just got 20" rims from a limited and am planning on getting more agresive tires and a lift kit after Christmas. Installing running boards now so i guess its starting .
Don't know if am to late for this post but I would like to put my cents in the glock is a fine pistol and the work every single time year so do revolvers. For a person like your self that is more used to rifles and shot guns I would recommend the s&w 9mm revolver it would make the most sense for your needs and it might be more practical for you to get used to it.

Another often overlooked aspect of conceal carry is holsters . Don’t put your gun in an uncomfortable POS holster. Get a sturdy holster that feels good to you.
But remember, guns are comforting, not comfortable.
I have a few of all flavors of IWB holsters and the We The People holsters are my favs so far

My wife carries a p938 equinox, great pistol for carry if you have a smaller frame.

OP, have you considered a hammer-fired pistol with a decocker? I'm not a fan of Glock, plastic pistol with poor ergonomics.. absolutely a proven pistol but not my cup of tea. I'm a big fan of CZ and Sig - they should be considered if this will be a carry piece.

Most probably you bought your toy already. Im a big fan of Sigs. Prefer German engineering than Austrian. Why do people buy Fords or Chevys instead of Toyos? Im not saying Glocks are bad but I prefer Sigs.

Can't go wrong with Sig Sauer. The Navy Seals used them for decades. I think last year the Seals started switching over to Glocks (G19?). Both would be a great reliable option. As others have said, it all comes down to what feels good in your hands.

Even with Sig you need to be careful where it was made. Like my Beretta 92FS is made in Italy, not USA. I did a comparison on the 2 identical weapons, brand new, side by side before I purchased it. The one from Italy was $100 more but just felt tighter and better made so I opted for that. My Sig P220 was made in Germany and imported through Exeter NH. Thats my Caddillac. Definitely not the same quality as the ones sold in Academy. When it comes to firearms, I definitely feel you get what you pay for.

Def Glock . Wife has the 42. It's a great gun and can be concealed so easy. I have a 43 and 23. 43 for carry and 23 for house.

Can always get larger magazines. Sadly CT limits us to 10 rounds per mag.

Ok, quick update: i made an offer that was accepted. thanks for all the excellent advice and feedback. i’ve learned a lot about options i wasn’t aware of.

    i paid $500 cash for both the G42 and S&W 9mm.

as a bunch of you have said the G42 is def small but the S&W is sweet and has a great weight. the G42 feels a little plasticity but i guess cuz it is plastic?

i feel like i got a reasonable deal for both guns and we did a basic bill of sale that i had notarized so i feel good about the transaction.

the .380 ammo is a little more than 9mm ammo but not horrible. just compared prices at WalMart. there might be a better source for buying bulk ammo, not sure yet?

i really like the feel of the Sig P365. fits better in my hand so maybe i’ll end up with that for my CC.

i’ve got my lessons lined up so i’m gonna do initial training with these two and go from there.

in the meantime, these will go in my gun safe and to the range for lessons. i’ll update as i send more rounds thru each one.

my purchase comes with a sentry safe, which will work for the time being.
