Takes a dipstick to design a dipstick I guess. After sitting overnight, wanted to get a baseline of oil level. After 3 pulls and wipes, still can't tell. WTF! Crystal Ball anyone? How would you ever know it's low?
Oh yeah, the main bearings would shit the bed.
For reference, I changed at 5k, have 3k on dealer oil change now, that was done at 10k.

Seems overfilled to me. Should be between the two dimples in my view.

If it's been sitting all night, it's definitely overfilled.

    That's a lot of oil:cheers:

Started it for several minutes, let sit 15 and checked. Still appears overfilled but I'll take it for a drive to full temp and recheck it. Yes one side is useless to check, thanks for mentioning that.

Looks like the manual wants it checked at operating temperature which I have never done. I have always check it cold on any vehicle I have ever owned so guess I will have to try it this way.

The dipstick reading should be between the 2 dimples. Top dimple, and your overfilled.

Lightly sand the dipstick crossways. It helps.

Dipstick is indeed useless. The damn thing is 10 feet long and by the time it travels up the tube, oil gets smeared for an inaccurate reading.

Horizontal across the stick if it is standing on end. Create grooves for the oil to “rest”on. I did it from the very bottom to an inch above the full mark.

In my case I also found the airbox lid with both clips undone, lifted up about an inch. It sucked unfiltered air for 4700 miles. I changed oil myself and then found a missing bolt in TRD skidplate! To top it off before I discovered this bs they had rotated my tires and I had mud terrains put on just a few days after. Tire shop told me lugs were barely tight. I called dealer, got handed around on phone and decided f it, so called corporate twice. Ended up getting an 84mo 7yr. powertrain warranty after a lot of prodding and stalling by dealer. Not ideal but helps.

Wow, first dealer that doesn't use a 1" air impact to tighten wheel lugs. Dealers are a joke, seems they have become worse lately. My truck doesn't even go near a dealer unless it's warranty work, even then I am scared to take it to them. Last we I took the wife's 23 RDX for a oil change and even that they can't do right. But it's a lease so in the end it's theirs fuck up to keep.

Wish i could find aftermarket that would fit hole without the brail markings as we are not blind yet and what happened to f and L and hashmarks for safe operating range but this thing is 80cm long. Like said earlier takes a dipstick to design one! lol

If they used F and L, only people who can read English would be able to check their oil.

I wish Toyota had holes in the dipstick like many other vehicles instead of the dimples. I tried to drill holes in my Tacoma dipstick but my hand drill would not penetrate the dimples and the bit barely caused a mark. They must be made of tungsten or chromium.
