    Well, finally got my first check engine light since buying my truck. I have a four day weekend coming up, now I know how I'll be spending it.

    2006, 91K miles, timing belt done a year and a half ago.

    Haven't checked anything yet. It just came on about an hour ago and I'm at work. I'll probably stop somewhere on the way home and get checked.

    @FirstGenVol is wise to ask.

    This happened to me recently, filled up at Kroger gas station. Knock sensor code fired off about 15-20 miles later.

    Turns out it was bad gas. Cleared the code, added a full can of Seafoam to the tank, and that was many months ago now.

    Will be curious to see what your code is.

    I stopped buying gas there at this point. It happened to my wife recently too. Twice in 6 months is 1 time too many. Screw me once ... (granted, I've heard similar about Sams Club/Costco gas)

    I started using Shell, and I get similar $$ off my gas from shopping at Advance Auto. It's not quite the same discount, but it's better than nothing.

    Yeah, I just decided if that is the problem, no more Kroger gas. Screw those fuel points. I'll pay a little more for Shell.

    You can use your Kroger fuel points at Shell stations. At least you can around here.

    It could also be your gas cap throwing the code. It's worth buying $15 code reader to have on hand.

    The gas cap is on tight, though it could still be defective. I think I'll pick up a code reader soon. But for today, I'll have to rely on the guys at Autozone.

    Always good to be optimistic about your first CEL light.

    I'll bet it's a downstream 02 sensor bad heater circuit from past experience. If that's the case, I say meh. Go out and enjoy yourself and deal with it when you get back.

    Common issue. Fixes are out there, all involved. Bypass the SAIS is the most common solution it seems. Cheaper and less likely to cause issues in the future.

    My 1997 T-100 has had the CEL on for 10 years and 40,000+miles. It runs just fine. The most amazing thing is: that that silly little CEL can stay on for 10 years and not burn out. I love me a Toyota.

    However I would note >>>> YMMV.

    Yikes, this is what nobody with an '05+ ever wants to see. I loathe the day when this hits me too.

    Uh, yeah. About that. SAIS pump is under the intake. So technically, yeah, you'll need to replace the intake gasket. The pump itself costs a few hundred bucks when I looked a couple years ago ($450-550?). Install roughly involves removing the intake manifold and all that's involved with that, pull the SAIP, install new SAIP, install new intake gasket, OEM because aftermarket sucks, then bolt it all back together. Not a fun job. But you'll be paying a shop $1k parts and labor, or a stealership twice that.
