Great stuff! Any tips on cutting the exhaust pipe for the muffler?

I just used a sawzall, but a hacksaw or cutoff wheel would work too.
I chopped exactly 9" off the front pipes where they enter the muffler.
The key here was mocking everything up... tailpipes first... to see where the muffler needed to be since you dont want to hack on the tailpipes. The hangers are static and cant move.
There was plenty of extra (straight) length to work with on the front pipes.

Some kits come with Flowmaster or Magnaflow mufflers. Any idea if these are too obnoxiously loud with drone? I had bamuffler standard (without resonator) straight pipe which was too loud for me.

My kit came with a chambered (Flowmaster style) muffler... and from my experience they ALWAYS drone and are ALWAYS loud.

The only way to mitigate this is with a high flow stock style muffler.
The stainless muffler I used is a straight thru, perforated pipe design.
I can see straight through both ends of the muffler... but it is amazingly quiet. (as seen in my video)
Honestly at idle... the engine and fan makes way more noise than the exhaust does.

Which system did you have? 6, 8, 10, or 12?

Standard budget system, 4". Got it used locally for cheap and tried it out. Probably better with resonator. I can see why people pick 10"(with and without resonator).
@Dragracer_Art set up seems the way to go. Good sound when you need it.

    Yep.
Nothing against the other setups... but the cost vs benefit just isnt there for me.

The kit I put on my truck was literally HALF the cost of a TRD system.
In fact, (other than aluminized vs stainless) I think the cheap kit + stainless muffler has better performance than the TRD system. Its also very quiet.
(Larger 2.5" pipes and merged muffler)

The DD system is very expensive for what it is... and its still only a single exit system. Two major drawbacks for me.

Are you going to leave the clamps on or will you weld them up eventually?

I will eventually weld it up but for the short term the clamps are just fine.

Back in the day... (1980's for me) nobody welded exhaust systems together and everything was cool with clamps... so no sense of urgency. :D

This is the muffler that came with the kit and I opted not to use... It would have been too loud and obnoxious.
$50, local pickup only if anyone wants it.

Very tempting for dual exhaust set up. Still sounding good?

Yep... was driving around much of the day with my wife and we both agreed... it sounds quieter than stock until you lay into it... then it just sounds like an amplified version of the stock exhaust.
No crackle or hotrod noise, just a clean deep tone.
I could not be happier with this setup. Its exactly what I wanted.
Dual exhaust performance without the obnoxious noise associated with it.

    Just confirmed pipe sizes.

Factory pipes are exactly 2-1/8" into the muffler.

Entire Ebay kit is 2-1/2" from flanges back.

I see the kit comes with hardware for the extra hanger for dual exhaust. No need for bigger heat shield?

That's the sound I am looking for. But not sure how it will hold up to the New England winters. But for the price, i think i may still give it a go. Thanks for the sound clip

The price is what did it for me. Even with the extra muffler Im only into it for about $450.
I have the stock system sold for $100 and should be able to sell the kit muffler for $50... so in the end I will have $300 into it.

Thanks very much for posting your thoughts. I was just looking at these myself. Just to confirm, there are no special tools or anything needed...everything (clamps, hangers, etc) are all included? Cutting wouldn't be required if you were too go with the muffler that comes with the kit?

Yes, absolutely everything was included. Clamps, hangers, etc...
No flange gaskets though... so be sure to save your old ones.

I did not compare mufflers side by side... so I cannot confirm the kit muffler fits without trimming pipes... but based on how well everything else fit, I can only assume it will fit fine.

Thanks again! Much appreciated. Now to do some searching to see if I can find what some of the included mufflers sound like.

I just noticed all the postings that I saw of theirs on eBay say NOT for Double Cab (which is what I have). Crappy if so. I sent them a message.

Double cab and Crewmax use exact same exhaust.

The double cab long (8FT) bed is different.

Oh OK, that is what I would have originally guessed....Looks like I was reading it incorrectly as it says "Does not fit Double Cab / Long Bed". Haha...thanks.

    Definitely still diggin the exhaust.

In my humble opinion... there is nothing better than a true dual system with dual tailpipes.

I love that it's very subtle and quiet when it needs to be. Even at WOT, it's not obnoxious. Just sounds very throaty and healthy.
I can feel the engine pull harder in the upper RPM's too. There's no question about it.
