Since I typically use my truck only for camping and hunting, and I live in a warm climate (Santa Clarita, CA) where it's over 100 degrees at least four months a year, changing it at least once, if not twice a year (7500 miles/year approx), is just my own peace of mind. I know there's some that question my sanity. I get it. And there are times when I've changed only right before hunting season (August)...and waited until next August to change it again. It just depends on if I think I'm driving it more during the hotter months.

FWIW, i've changed my prius oil every 5k, which I believe is the recommended. I drive that thing 25-30k per year and I drive it like I stole it. So I don't mind servicing that one more regularly.

Yep, I'm with you....change the synthetic every 5,000 miles (and filter) or at least yearly if I don't get to 5,000 miles. My wife has a Prius and it says you can go 10,000 miles and I didn't believe it. But it hit 5,000 and the oil wasn't even dirty so I kept an eye on it...didn't start looking dirty until around 8,500 miles...so that only gets changed every 10,000 (or yearly)

That would make more sense but my 2019 owners manual doesn't make a distinction regarding that kind of heavy use it just flat out says 5k interval with the ffv
