Hi all, found several mentions in other threads but not a dedicated tread so please delete if I'm being repetitive.

    23 TRD PRO

My center console started rattling a few days ago out of nowhere and it's driving me nuts. Especially when doing 20-30mph over rough roads (potholes, patched potholes, etc). So all the roads where I live in the mountains.

Spent about two hours yesterday playing with weather stripping and got rid of one kind of rattle - coming from the latch upfront and the 'hook' as weather stripping is pushing the console door up so there's now a tension.

However, can't figure out for the life of me where is the second rattle coming from. It sounds like it's coming from the inside of the console door.

Has anyone experienced it and has an advice for me? I tried holding/pushing on the sliding tray and the small door on the top but to no avail. My dealer is 2 hours away and previous experience with rattles in 18 Taco wasted a lot of time and for resolution.

Has anyone had their center console replaced under warranty?

Thanks, yeah I saw that one. But wanted to see if people were able to stuff some stripping in certain places to get rid of it. To be honest, I don't think my dealership will do a solid by me so I would rather 'fix' it myself without wasting days with them. Sad that I'm at that point, aside from Toyota I've only owned a CPO Volvo S60 and they took care of me, no matter what state I lived in.

My 23 platinum with 1000 miles has a rattle somewhere around the center console armrest.

Took it to the dealership and they replaced the lid under warranty. It’s ALOT better now.

Cool! I'm taking it to Mountain States Toyota in Denver for an oil change on Saturday, one of the supposedly best-rated Yota dealerships in the country. I'll document all the other issues that I have and know there's no TSB for right now, but will insist we look at the center console rattle. I'll report back.

In my case it's coming from somewhere internal, confirmed by my (good) dealer. I've spent way too much time trying to figure it out on my own and to no avail.

From my experience, they won't replace it for you. It's a known issue with no Toyota official fix, so warranty replacement is not generally approved by Toyota (because it won't help). I got this explanation at two different dealerships, one of them having done a lot for work on all other creaks and rattles in my truck.

So far mine doesn't rattle, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time with the wash boarded and rutted out county roads we live on.

Speaking of the console, I sure don't like the new design. The sliding tray is basically useless, IMO, because it's so shallow. What in the hell is that designed for, anyway? And what are those silly dividers in the bottom for?

I loved the console on 2015 Tundra. It was just a big box with a sturdy padded leather lid. The tray on top of the lid was perfect for my cell phone. Sometimes simple is better, IMO.
