Saw the Sequoia center console mod, and was wondering what other options might be out there to replace the center console. The one thing I dislike is the rounded console cover. Storage is great, just hate the lid.

I'm curious to see what else people have done. I was looking into swapping part of my 03 console to newer parts or at least ones that aren't all scratched and torn.

Has anyone ever swapped the overhead console from a 05/06 into an earlier model (03 or 04)? I hate not having a sunglasses holder and would like to get one along with better map lights. @empty_lord @SouthPaw

The 2002 has a sunglass holder. Also, try removing those lens covers on your map lights which are blocking 50% of your light. Pop the lenses off and then pop the metal backing off the lenses.

Is that sunglasses holder the same really narrow one that comes in the 2003? I will try removing the lens cover too. I bought a used console from a 2005, but just eyeballing it I don't think the screws will line up correctly and you would have to do a little wiring and cutting of the overhead panel.

It the 2002 model. The sunglass holder is small and I’ve never used it for mine as they get tucked in my sunvisor. Hope the lenses idea works for you. Brighter LED lights help as well.

05-06 access cab and regular cab overheads the same as the older tundras. The double cab is the one with a different overhead, and it won’t fit easily

The 2002 AC has a Festoon Type Bulb. Looks like a barrel with metal caps on the ends.

Mine looks like yours except it doesn’t have that circled in red part. What is this?

You sure about that? My 02 has that. It's so you can put a garage door opener behind it and push it to open your door.

Positive. @theblurry1 even sent me one he scored at a junkyard to mess around on last year. I have 2 now. Both do not have the ‘button’.

To add, I have Patented the ‘Jumper Mod’ where you press one map light and both turn on at the same time. Works nicely. Check it out guys. Its on my build page.

I have homelink, but still haven’t programmed our door to it. So I put my opener inside the sunglasses holder

That's wild. I wonder why they would offer different versions of such a simple piece, especially in the same model year. We both have the SR5 trim too.

The sunglasses holder on the 05 DC sucks. My sunglasses are always shifting inside of it and then I go to open and can’t because they’re caught on a piece of plastic and now it’s jammed.

    Dumb.

Its a small space. I think they used Japanese Sized Sunglasses for their design. Whilst Toyota thought about all the basics when building our trucks, they didn’t factor in the Double Wide American Skull sizes. We nick named a guy ‘Double Wide’ as no normal/large baseball hat would fit his noggin.

Double Wide is no longer with us. He was the guy that nicknamed ‘Beady Bill’ who was expert at looking busy at work while simultaneously accomplishing nothing.

If you buy Sylvania LED’s they have a lifetime warranty.

Nice. All of my major interior bulbs are Sylvanias. Holding nicely after 2 years. Wish they made a T5 where I used Partsam Bulbs from a recco from the Autozoned manager.
