So after seeing a photo of a center console that had a firearm, flashlight, and misc item stored in it in an organized manner I decided I would do it myself. The entire project took me 15 mins or so.

I purchased a Kydex holster (Uncle Mikes) for $24.99 at Sportsmans Warehouse. You can use your preferred brand, but for a open holster that I am not going to be using as my concealed holster, why would I spend $45+ for one?

    and brought them home.....

    upload_2014-1-25_16-0-31.jpg
I used double sided tape for the holster to secure it to the center console interior wall.

    upload_2014-1-25_16-1-33.jpg
After, drill out a small hole for the maglight and attach the clips.

Re-install center piece and you're finished.

Keep us updated on how that double-sided tape works. I've tried Velcro to attach a holster to my center console and it just peels off and falls over after a day or so. I might have to give it another try if the tape holds up better. Looks like you're set up for the passenger to draw the pistol?

I presumed the Velcro wasn't going to stick so I went with the double sided tape

And yep...for some odd, strange reason I thought it would be easier reach for me (I'm a lefty)...I'm going to switch this around tomorrow and see how that works instead...

    Edit: switched holster over

The mag lite clips were around $5.00....took me 5 mins to pre-drill the holes and install with the factory screws....it doesn't penetrate (giggity) the console box from the outside

Load up....knives, pens, napkins, flash lights, etc....I also have my registration and insurance hidden in my owners manual in the center console....why? If you are a thief and trespass into a vehicle they may look for your reg / ins....which contains ur name and address (esp if you have a garage door remote, all they need to take is the papers and the remote and now they have access into your house) what thief is going to look into an owners manual for the papers?

I love the idea, but being in SD.. not such a wise decision here. Please excuse my ignorance, but do you have to have a CCW in CO in order to have that?

I bought this on 1/12/14 and have added a code alarm remote start, an Alpine head unit with Nav and a backup camera.
I plan on using the holster that came with my XD, I don't like it for carry.

Depends on if you have a concealed carry permit or not. Fresno, my home county has actually gotten pretty easy on getting a permit. Which is good statewide. Family tells me that several of the counties outside of LA and S.F.have relaxed their stance.

Calif. is a may issue state and it's up to the chief LEO.

Interesting...what are their regs for one to obtain a CCW? I know you have to have a permit to own a firearm...and can only purchase one a month?

IDK the particulars, I haven't lived there since 1998. I do visit often and have several cousins, most of which are into guns.

This is pretty slick, but I normally just put mine in the "glock holder" aka the map compartment.

just bought it..just ordered TundraRacing Lowering Kit.. Then maybe 285/65 Nitto Terra's..havent decide on wheels..maybe 18 or 20 XD's..will do more mod's after reading more maybe on here..
..Really shouldn't keep any important paper work such as insurance in your vehicle..Here in Ga all you need to prove you have insurance is your tag with the the little stick-on decal that you get every birthday..and your drivers permit on your person of course..
Good idea on attaching a holster..I gotta try that..thanks

In Colorado you can conceal a handgun inside a vehicle without needing a CCW, as the vehicle is considered "real property." Sweet setup Sean266.

Correct...but trust me..the few times I have been stopped, letting them know my credentials and then advising of what/where firearm is seems to put them at ease...

Interesting. We don't have tags for valid proof of insurance. CO law requires you carry proof of insurance in your vehicle at all times...

Looks like this is for a 2nd-3rd gen Tundra. Does anyone know if you can do the same setup on a 1st gen?

Wow. Here in PA once the firearm is in a vehicle it is considered "concealed" and you need a CCP.

Yeah, its about the only gun law here I agree with. Luckily out here in the 51st state we don't have to worry about much, the only gun-related thing sheriffs get on us about is shooting prairie dogs from the pickup :)
