Once you make the conversion to the full console your are going to need to organize that big bucket.

We have used LKQ to purchase consoles for designing organizers. They can come in good condition or can be a dirty mess. Look at the listing and get an "A" rated console. Look at the picture of the vehicle it is coming from. If any of the glass on the vehicle is broken the console will be a dirty mess and can be scratched from the broken glass. You want the vehicle to be rear ended. These vehicle sit in the yard for months and get rained on and dirty. Not a big deal for us for design purposes but not what you want in your Tundra. Hope that helps with getting a console in good shape.

It should fit. There were not changes from 18 to 19.

Hate to bump an old thread, but figured this would be better than starting new thread for one question. Can anyone confirm if the consoles are the same in the DC & CM? I’ve gone through all the information I can find here but haven’t seen anyone mention it. I think I may have found a console out of a local yard but it’s a DC truck.

I would love to see how you finished this. Paint? Stain or cover it in padding with marine vinyl? Thanks

I just used an Indoor/Outdoor carpet that I use for a lot of things and it is screwed down and no adhesive used at all making for easy changes if I want to.
There is 1/2" Foam under the armrest lid too for a little cushion and Aluminum trim in strategic spots too.

It is rugged and quiet and the funny thing is that Velcro sticks to it better than anything else I have ever seen, not always a good thing!

Anyway I have made a few really long extended trips with it in there and it does almost exactly what I planned,a success for me for sure!

I also have added a small front tray for bottles and sanitizer and wipes that has been working out really well, there is a lot of storage in this console and I have yet to want the terrible 3rd seat even once.

    HI there,
i am fairly new as well and I am doing the opposite of what you do. I am willing to trade my center jumpseat in for the console with the shifter in the center...I probably won't reroute the shifter but i want the bigger console and bigger storage space.

Does anyone know if I do this mod, this also affects the whole centerpiece, including the air vents for the backseat row? Is there a small tutorial what to remove?

I just swapped out my center seat for console. Everything bolts right up, but the duct that comes from under the dash and goes to the rear vents is different. I just ordered the duct for a factory console truck, should be in next week but other than that it’s all good.

Where did you find your console? Looking to buy one. Cant, you just use the ducts which are already there for the center seat when you install console? Do you have some pictures of that duct "issue"?

Like I said, they are completely different. But I guess you could try?

Was there a harness already under the bench to plug the charger into thats on the rear of the console? How did you handle that?

I Just looked over other posts, make sure you are getting center console from the SR5 to avoid having to change the vents under the console. The higher trim levels have the vents on the rear of console, unless thats something you want to do as above posts...

I'm thinking of doing this myself as I wanted the red truck, and the only one I could get without waiting 4-6 months for special order had this bench seat setup. Now that I have had it a few days, I am not happy with the center seat console. It's bulky and has no real storage area. Just a couple of worthless compartments. Thanks for the info. I may do this in the future.

Isn't there a storage area under the center seat too?

Yes, but it isn't very deep. I can't store my camera gear out of sight which is a main feature for me. I've driven it for a over a week now, and nothing about the bench console is agreeing with me. I keep dumping things out of the top when needing things from the bottom compartment. I'll start researching soon on where to purchase one that will fit. Then it will be the truck I wanted that they didn't have on the lot at the time of purchase.

I found this when looking to see if I could swap my current center console for one with vents on it. Now I'm wondering if I could switch to a column shifter too. Rear vents would be nice to help keep my kids cooler.

Yep. I mean I have no intention of making those sorts of mods, but if I had a front bench with a fold-down center, I would probably like it.

Let's see those center console conversions. Post up photos!

Also has anyone successfully rerouted the shifter?

My biggest complaint with my truck is just the cup holders. I like the bench seat though so I guess I'll just have to deal. Anyone have suggestions on helping a cup not rock in the cup holder?

I am converting a bench seat from a tundra sr no current rear air. I want to add air to the center console, it has vents.

There was an owner posting a new vent drawing to bring air from under the dash.

How did that go? Any advice?
